This JV Diagnostic Laboratory Center (JV DLC) was established and operated under the Joint Venture Engagement of Millennium Healthcare Enterprise and Retina Pharmaceuticals. It strives to maximize reasonable revenues while also maximizing positive health impacts on the community and the environment. The JV DLC will offer a comprehensive range of services for patients, researchers and academicians and will contribute to meet the unmet need of the healthcare system in the country.

Job Overview:

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Joint Venture Diagnostic Laboratory Center. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of laboratory operations in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases including management of internal quality control practices and External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes, customer service, financial management, human resource, equipment management, strategic and operational planning, and M&E of implementation, referral networks & testing services, comprehensive implementation of Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) and accreditation to international standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth and efficient running of all laboratory operations, including specimen collection and management, testing,  and result reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain quality management standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the specification, selection, procurement, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Manage customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of laboratory results.
  • Develop the laboratory’s budget and manage costs to ensure profitability.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Ensure laboratory staff are adequately trained on equipment operation & maintenance.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback.
  • Manage workplace employee relations and resolve any disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, such as those of IES and ISO 15189.
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of Laboratory Quality Management  System (LQMS).
  • Oversee and coordinate  the development and implementation of the laboratory’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Creating and managing appointment schedules for patients and ensuring optimal utilization of laboratory resources.
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective mechanisms/systems for specimen referral, transportation, testing and return of results.
  • Overseeing the physical maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory facility.
  • Ensure the implementation of laboratory biosafety and biosecurity requirements
  • Identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to expand the laboratory’s services and market share.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, managing costs, and ensuring profitability.
  • Exploring and implementing new technologies to improve laboratory efficiency and accuracy.
  • Keep abreast of the development of new, advanced diagnostic tests and introduce following the company’s appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring secure and efficient management of patient data and laboratory results.
  • Overseeing the laboratory’s information systems and ensuring their effective use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Director

About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Laboratory Management, Clinical Microbiology, Public Health or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory operations, preferably in a diagnostic laboratory setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
