Location: Addis Ababa
JBS is launching a new sourcing initiative in East Africa and is seeking experienced Livestock Buyers / Cattle Trading Specialists to support and strengthen our cattle procurement operations.
Job Description
- Lead and execute cattle procurement activities within assigned regions
- Conduct live animal negotiations and build strong relationships with producers, traders, and market operators
- Assess livestock quality and suitability for slaughter
- Accurately estimate live weight and pricing in field conditions
- Monitor market trends, supply availability, and pricing dynamics
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regional livestock regulations
- Participate in extensive fieldwork and regional travel
About You
Job Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in livestock trading and cattle procurement
- Proven hands-on experience in live animal negotiation
- Strong ability to estimate live weight and evaluate animals for slaughter
- Deep knowledge of regional livestock markets
- Knowledge of regional regulations governing livestock movement and exports
- Working proficiency in English (mandatory)
- Degree or diploma in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Business Administration, or a related field (considered an asset)
- Membership in a recognized local Livestock Traders Association
Requirement Skill
Knowledge of poultry and livestock production operations
