Role Summary
We are looking for a precision-oriented Mechanical Fitter to be responsible for fitting and assembling metal parts and sub-assemblies to fabricate production machinery. You will play a key role in the installation and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment like gearboxes, conveyors, and rolling mill stands.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit and assemble metal parts and sub-assemblies using various tools and machines.
- Align and calibrate mechanical components, including shafts, bearings, and gears, to extremely tight tolerances.
- Inspect and test assembled parts for flaws or malfunctions.
- Perform emergency repairs on the production line, including the replacement of worn rollers and bushings.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Engineers and Welders to ensure structural and mechanical integrity.
- Maintain high standards of safety while working with heavy overhead cranes and high-pressure hydraulic systems.
About You
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: TVET Level III or IV in General Mechanics, Machine-tool Technology, or Mechanical Fitting.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Fitter in a heavy manufacturing plant (experience in steel mills or cement factories is highly valued).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings.
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators).
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
- Personal Attributes: Strong manual dexterity, physical strength, and a disciplined approach to preventive maintenance.
