Position overview: The expert will coordinate the national-level MHPSS response activities for public health emergencies, support the national MHPSS Technical Working Group (NTWG), initiate national-level MH surveillance and response, strengthen sub-national MHPSS TWG, Manage MHPSS data and produce regular bulletins, support and standardize and/or contextualize MHPSS strategic documents, training manuals and guidelines for emergencies.
National MHPSS Coordinator for Public Health Emergency
- Support Mental health surveillance and response system initiation
- Plan and cascade national-level MHPSS emergency response plans
- Coordinate and respond MHPSS activities in humanitarian settings and emergencies
- Coordinate/ensure activities with relevant Government authorities, and international and national organizations, including standardized reporting practices related to MHPSS in emergency setting
- Collect and share reports regular reports from the lower level, conduct data analysis and produce regular MHPSS bulletin
- Support the national MHPSS TWG coordination platform
- Strengthen sub-national MHPSS TWGs and coordination
- Communicate with Regional Health bureaus and establish local referral pathways for IDPs and returnees.
- Support resource mobilization activities for MHPSS (advocacy… )
- Prepare an emergency response plan (integrating MHPSS)
- Arrange/follow field deployment process (map multidisciplinary /Psychological, social, and psychiatric/experts, orientation, deploy….) during humanitarian crisis/ public health emergency response.
About You
Expected Background and Experience
- Minimum of MA in Psychology, MSC in Psychiatry, MA in social work
- Minimum of 8-year experience preferably those experiences should be on MHPSS activities in emergency/humanitarian setting
- Excellent written, and verbal communication skills in English and the national language/s
- Computer literate (Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications)
- Good in data management
- Capable of working effectively in stress and hardship conditions, especially during emergency conditions
- Flexible to obey the achievement of our institute mission and willing to work extra hours according to the need for urgent and timely delivery.
- Willing to be deployed and work effectively in hardship and stressful emergency conditions
