Job Summary: The People and Culture Head/Chief Human Resources Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Ovid Holding’s human resources function. This critical role requires a highly strategic, results-oriented individual with proven success in leading and developing HR teams within a fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Workforce Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive workforce planning strategy aligned with the company’s overall business strategy and growth plans. This includes forecasting future talent needs, identifying skill gaps, and developing strategies to attract, develop, and retain employees. The plan needs to consider the different needs of Ovid’s diverse subsidiaries.
- Talent Acquisition & Management: Lead the recruitment and selection process, ensuring that Ovid Holding attracts high-quality candidates from diverse backgrounds. Develop and implement strategies for employee onboarding, performance management, talent development, and succession planning. This requires collaboration across subsidiaries.
- Compensation & Benefits: Develop and administer competitive compensation and benefits programs, ensuring that Ovid Holding offers a market-leading total rewards package that attracts and retains top talent. This requires regular market research.
- Employee Relations: Foster a positive and productive work environment that values employee well-being and engagement. Develop and implement strategies for addressing employee concerns, resolving workplace conflicts, and promoting a culture of respect and collaboration. The role requires consistent monitoring of employee satisfaction.
- Training & Development: Design and implement employee training and development programs, focusing on building skills and knowledge across the diverse business units. This includes identifying training needs, selecting training programs, and evaluating program effectiveness. The Director should establish a training calendar.
- Performance Management: Establish and oversee a fair, consistent, and effective performance management system, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and performance improvement plans. This will require consistent monitoring and review.
- Compliance & Legal: Ensure that Ovid Holding complies with all relevant labor laws and regulations. This includes developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that are compliant and fair. The Director will require regular legal updates.
- Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I): Develop and implement strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization. This includes creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment for employees from diverse backgrounds. The role necessitates awareness of current best practices in DE&I.
- Employee Wellness: Design and implement programs to support employee well-being and mental health. This might include wellness initiatives, employee assistance programs (EAPs), and other supportive measures. The role requires analyzing employee feedback and health data.
- Technology & Data Analysis: Leverage HR technology and data analytics to optimize HR processes, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. This includes implementing and managing HR systems and analyzing HR data to inform decision-making. The role requires proficiency in HR software and data analysis techniques.
- Budget Management: Manage the HR budget effectively and efficiently. The Director should regularly review and adjust the budget as needed.
Team Management: Manage and mentor the HR team, providing guidance, support, and training. The role involves establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and targets.
Compensation and Benefits: Negotiable upon interview
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 14+ years of progressive experience in HR leadership roles within a large organization, ideally with experience in the construction and/or real estate industries. Experience in a multinational or international company is preferred.
- Proven track record of success in talent acquisition, development, and retention.
- Deep understanding of Ethiopian labor laws and regulations.
- Experience managing large teams and budgets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Fluency in English and Amharic is essential.
- Proficiency in HR software and data analytics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
