The Ethiopian Environmental Health Association (EHA) is a non-profit, membership-based organization established under the Federal Charities and Societies Agency with license No. 2927 on December 17, 2012. EHA was established to serve its members and contribute towards advancing and maintaining high standards of environmental health services in Ethiopia. We seek a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Program and Business Development Lead.

Job Summary:

The Program and Business Development Lead will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and impact of the Ethiopian Environmental Health Association (EHA). This position is responsible for designing and implementing innovative programs, securing funding, and building strategic partnerships to advance EHA’s mission of promoting environmental health in Ethiopia. The Program and Business Development Lead will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing programs that align with EHA’s mission. The role will also involve identifying new business opportunities, building partnerships, and securing funding to support the association’s initiatives. Program and Business Development Lead responsibilities include working closely with chief Executive Director to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes and budgets for projects. A Project officer works closely with project team members, managers, and leads to help deliver major organizational projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development:

  • Assist the Chief Executive Director in all EHA-related activities
  • Design and develop programs and projects that address environmental health challenges in Ethiopia.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, private sector partners, and communities, to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate program implementation to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Lead the development and submission of compelling proposals, concept notes, and funding applications to donors, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to developing EHA’s strategic plans and ensure alignment with program activities.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities in environmental health.
  • Support the development of organizational policies, operational guidelines, and programmatic frameworks to ensure efficient program management.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals to achieve program and organizational objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare and submit timely reports to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Represent EHA at meetings, conferences, and other events whenever assigned or delegated.

Job Type: Full-Time
Duration: Six months, with the possibility of extension
Salary: Negotiable

About You
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, business development, or a similar role.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, business development, and stakeholder engagement, with a passion for addressing environmental health challenges.
  • Proven track record of securing funding and managing donor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of environmental health issues in Ethiopia.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is an advantage.
