Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and preparing accurate financial reports. This role will also involve managing general accounting functions, financial analysis, budgeting, and helping the team implement best practices for financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of accounts to ensure accurate financial records.
  • General Ledger Management: Oversee and manage the company’s general ledger, including reviewing journal entries, adjustments, and ensuring all accounts are accurately maintained.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization. Provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Month-End & Year-End Closing: Manage month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting, including ensuring all financial transactions are accounted for and properly documented.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws, and coordinating with external auditors during the audit process.
  • Internal Controls & Audit: Assist with maintaining effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy and security of financial data.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning to ensure the organization meets its financial goals.
  • Team Collaboration & Support: Supervise junior accounting staff and provide mentorship, ensuring their work is accurate and aligned with company standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the accounting department and contribute to the implementation of more efficient and effective financial systems.
About You

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, etc.), Excel, and other financial tools. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles (GAAP), and tax laws.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyse financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement solutions efficiently.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, in-office position.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak financial periods (e.g., end of quarter or year-end).
