Job Summary
The Senior Auto Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components of electric vehicles (EVs). This role requires advanced technical skills in EV systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to lead and train junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics and Repair
Perform diagnostics on electrical systems and components of EVs using specialized tools and software.
Repair or replace malfunctioning electrical components, including motors, controllers, inverters, sensors, and wiring.
Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer and industry standards.
Maintenance
Conduct preventive maintenance on EVs, including battery health checks, software updates, and electrical inspections.
Inspect and maintain high-voltage systems to ensure safety and functionality.
Workshop Operations
Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
Monitor and manage tools, equipment, and inventory related to EV electrical systems.
Leadership and Training
Provide guidance and technical support to junior technicians.
Train workshop staff on advanced EV electrical repair techniques and safety protocols.
Stay updated on the latest EV technology and share knowledge with the team.
Customer Service
Communicate effectively with customer service to explain repair needs, timelines, and costs.
Offer technical advice to customers together with customer service on the safe operation and maintenance of their EVs.
Safety and Compliance
Adhere to all safety regulations, especially when working with high-voltage systems.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards for EV maintenance and repair.
About You
Education:
Diploma or degree in Auto Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Auto Electrician, with at least 2 years specializing in EVs or Hybrid vehicles.
Proven experience with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of EV systems.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for EVs.
In-depth knowledge of EV systems, including batteries, motors, inverters, and charging systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Certifications:
EV Maintenance Certification (preferred).
High-Voltage Safety Certification (preferred).
