Role Summary

The Senior HR Officer provides operational HR and administrative support to ensure effective implementation of HR policies, recruitment processes, performance management, employee relations, training, payroll, benefits, and facilities management. The role bridges strategic direction from the HR & Admin Manager with day-to-day HR and admin operations, ensuring compliance with Ethiopia Employment Law and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Support

  • Assist the HR & Admin Manager in implementing human capital plans and budgets.
  • Support policy development and ensure clear communication of HR procedures.
  • Conduct job analysis to develop job descriptions and competency profiles.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment for mid-level positions and manage induction programs.
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies and monitor recruitment timelines.
  • Support workforce planning and manpower analysis.

Performance Management

  • Coordinate annual performance appraisal cycles and probation reviews.
  • Provide guidance to line managers on performance reviews and documentation.
  • Support managers in addressing underperformance cases.

Training & Development

  • Identify training needs in collaboration with managers.
  • Organize internal and external training programs and track effectiveness.
  • Mentor junior HR staff and support succession planning initiatives.

Employee Relations

  • Act as first point of contact for grievances and disciplinary issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Ethiopia Employment Law.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and forums.

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate HR records and prepare HR reports.
  • Oversee payroll inputs and coordinate with finance for accuracy.
  • Administer employee benefits, medical schemes, and insurance program

Administration & Facilities

  • Supervise office administration, including supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Coordinate logistics for staff events, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security standards.
  • Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers.

Compliance & Policy

  • Ensure HR and Admin policies are communicated and adhered to.
  • Monitor compliance with business ethics, anti-bribery, and code of conduct policiesKeep updated on employment law changes and advise managers accordingly.

Competencies & Skills

  • Clear understanding of Ethiopia Employment Law.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Culturally aware, compassionate, and an active listener.
About You
  • Undergraduate degree in HR or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years HR/Admin experience.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Fluent in English Language
