Solidaridad established a country office in Ethiopia since November 2015 with registration # 3531. The office re-registered on July 11, 2019 under the CSO proclamation 1113/2019. Solidaridad Ethiopia is currently implementing initiatives in the dairy, cotton, textile, leather, and coffee commodities in collaboration with the Ethiopian government and private sector partners & stakeholders.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The driver will work under the direct supervision of the team leader with close support from the office Finance officer and Administration Manger. The driver shall be responsible for providing transport and logistical services to the country office team for the project implementation and office administration purpose. The driver is also responsible for the safety and security of the passengers and the care and safety of the vehicle assigned to him/her.

PURPOSE 

The driver will provide transport and logistical services to the country office team through the implementation of transport and logistical plans.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

  • Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. and ensure that the assigned project vehicles are road worthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
  • Drive and maintain the vehicle in a professional, conscious and safe manner obeying the local road traffic laws.
  • Ensure that at all times the vehicle is equipped with the correct tools and spare parts (functioning jack, a spade, an approved tool kit, a spare wheel with a properly inflated tire and first aid kit)
  • Ensures that he/she has a valid driving license all time and ensures that a copy of the car paper and log sheet is in the car.
  • Ensure that vehicles are checked daily, weekly, and make sure it is maintained properly
  • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside and outside, at all times
  • Ensuring that non-unauthorized personnel, no military personnel, no harmful weapon including gun, stick, knife, spear, any explosive materials, Chat, drugs are on board.
  • Distribute different letters, packages to, from project office, and to other partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist office in coordinating field visits according to the plan from finance and admin
  • Ensuring to leave the compound with authorized paper (clearance) and passenger.
  • Maintain a logbook of vehicle movement, its mileage, servicing, fuel consumption and general vehicle condition.
  • Ensuring parking of vehicles in a safe area when on the field visit, not near to the market, fuel stations, bars or any unsecured places.
  • Perform other duties as required related to logistics ,vehicle management and other office team works

Others:

  • Assist the project team in providing the necessary logistical support such as dispatching letters, procurement of supplies and stationery, and any other facilitation support at time of meetings, workshops, etc.
  • Perform any other similar tasks that may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with project & organizational wide rules, regulations, procedures and methods

Reporting:

  • Report all accidents, or other incidents involving other vehicles or pedestrians, to the Solidaridad Ethiopia office administration and the team leader immediately.
  • Ensures that the proper procedures for insurance claims are followed at the time and scene of any accident.
  • Report any vehicle damage or malfunction to the Administration and the team leader as soon as possible.
  • At the end of any trip, submit completed log sheet to the Finance and Administration department.
  • Prepare monthly vehicle usage report and submit timely

Other information:

Travel: Able to travel frequently to existing and or new Solidaridad project sites in Oromia, SNNP, Amhara, etc. Travel may include visits to the field under challenging circumstances and less secured areas.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must have renewed identity Card
  • Willingness to sign contract agreement with Solidaridad
  • Should be submit guarantee and sign guarantee form
  • If Personal guarantee, minimum Monthly salary of the guarantee person should be ETB 25, 0000.
  • If  property guarantee, Vehicle or building (House) title deed should be summited
  •  Willing to travel or perform duties outside office hour as the case may be

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Complete of secondary education, and valid driving license
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous related work experience.
  • Basic oral and written English communication skill
  • Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
  • Ability in minor vehicle maintenance especially at time of unexpected cases during field travels
  • Experience in NGO settings is advantageous
  • Experience in driving filed small , medium and large vehicle (Double cabin pickup, Vizt  ) for both manual and automatic transmission
  • Skills,  Experience/knowledge on automotive/auto mechanic
  •  Skills in small and medium level vehicle Maintenance
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, etc.
