Background: –
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their lives. The IRC works with people forced to flee from war, conflict and disaster and the host communities which support them, as well as those who remain within their homes and communities. We began work in Ethiopia since 2000 and currently implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Job Overview/Summary:
The driver has the overall responsibility for Driving the organization’s vehicle as per IRC’s driving procedure. And keeping the vehicle clean and in a very good condition.
Major responsibilities:
- Driving the Organization’s vehicle as per IRC’s vehicle management procedure.
- Maintains and updated vehicle log sheet by filling in all required information properly and in a proper manner.
- Cooperate with staff on their travel requirements.
- Reports promptly to the logistics department losses Malfunctions or accidents in writing immediately events occur.
- Keeps vehicles clean and in a very good condition. Cleaning of vehicles is the responsibility of drivers.
- Provide some mechanical services to the vehicle as the need arises.
- Takes delivery of goods, supplies, etc on behalf of IRC as the need arises.
- Assists staff in translation.
- Follow up the periodic service of the vehicle and full fill the vital condition for the maintenance on time.
- Fill daily checklist and waiver if any.
- Keep IRC’s Safety procedure.
- Executes other duties as required.
Safeguarding Responsibilities: –
- Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRC [team/office]
- Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.
About You
Educational Requirements:
- High School graduate.
- A minimum of 3rd Grade Valid Driving License. NGO experience is a plus.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations.
- Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair.
- Good team spirit, attitude, behavior, and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to carry out limited, un-supervised tasks.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English and Somali languages (both written and oral) are an asset.
