About the Job

Chemonics International seeks experienced professionals for the USAID-funded Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. GHSC-PSM Ethiopia will serve as the primary vehicle through which USAID will procure and furnish health commodities, provide technical assistance to improve the country’s management of the supply chain, and collaborate with key international stakeholders to support global and local health initiatives.

The Import and Customs Clearance Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the shipments and clearance process of commodities procured by GHSC-PSM.  He/she is responsible for coordinating and communicating with the Clearing Agents, Consignees (Ethiopia Pharmaceutical Supply Services (EPSS), USAID, other partners like PMI Evolve, PSI and ICAP), Ethiopia Food and Drug Authority (EFDA), Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Ethiopian communication Authority (ECA), Information and Network Security Administration (INSA) and the Ethiopian Customs Authority (ECC).

 

About You

Qualifications

  • University degree in Supply chain, procurement, Transportation, Business Administration, Management, or related field from recognized institution.
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience for bachelor’s degree or six years relevant work experience for master’s degree
  • Must have experience in shipping and freight logistics, customs or procurement
  • Experience with pharmaceuticals or laboratory commodities preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in coordination and communication
  • Demonstrated intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Project and Power Point
  • Good knowledge in USAID rules and regulations, experience in international NGO preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a culturally diverse staff, clients and consultants.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  • English and Amharic fluency including business terminology required.
