Islamic Relief is currently looking for qualified female individuals who are competent, energetic and have practical experience in Human Resource Management for its Country Office, Addis Ababa to replace staff who will be on Maternity Leave. JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources (HR) Officer is responsible for performing a variety of technical and administrative support responsibilities relating to personnel functions in the areas of employment recruitment, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, employee relations and retention. He/she provides technical assistance to the HR Unit and performs a variety of tasks requiring specialized knowledge related to area of assignment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assisting with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties, providing clerical and administrative support to the HR team.
  2. Assists in reviewing departmental recruitment requests to ensure all recruitment are conducted against the organization’s staff establishment.
  3. Assists in the drafting of job advertisements for vacant jobs, screening, interviewing and selecting candidates.
  4. Prepares applicants long list and communication with selected candidates for schedules interviews.
  5. Provides general clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources Unit; prepares all documentation relating to appointments, contract management, termination, reports pertaining to human resource management activities.
  6. Manage overall employees benefit plans, including document preparation for enrollment.
  7. Maintains an up to date and accurate personnel records (both Hard and Soft copies) and with timely data entry and document control for employee matters and personnel files.
  8. Implements HR policies, practices, and procedures, and ensures compliance with legal laws and/or regulations as regards recruitment.
  9. Assists in the administration of all personnel policies and procedures.
  10. Assists in job analysis and preparation of job descriptions and person specifications for recruitment, job evaluation and other purposes.
  11. Performs any other duties as required by supervisor from time to time.

About You

Personal Specification

Formal Education/Qualification and Work Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Management or related fields with five years of experiences in the humanitarian set ups; preferably in the International NGOs.
  • Experience in setting HR strategy; talent acquisition, training and development role.

Skills and Competences

  • Competence in MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to plan, prioritize and organize self and others.
  • Ability to manage a complex and demanding workload with flexible behavior.
  • Sympathy with the aims and objectives of IRE
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action
  • Very good written and spoken skill both in English and Amharic language.
