About ASK US 

ASK US is recently established National association of HIV positive children, adolescents and youth registered and licensed on September 14, 2021 by Agency for Civil Society Organizations of Ethiopia. It is an indigenous, non-political, non-religious, non-profitable humanitarian and development association. ASK US envisages HIV/AIDS free society and empowered HIV positive youth capable of leading and affirming their economic and social benefits.

Currently ASK US is working on HIV prevention, treatment, care and support programs as well as on policy and legal backdrops related to gender inequality and human rights issues caused due to HIV/AIDS. It has more than 700 HIV positive adolescent and youth members as well as beneficiaries and is working on their social, economic, physical and health wellbeing.

NEP+ with financial support from Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malarias (GFATM) through Ministry of Health Ethiopia, is currently implementing the new HIV Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) project in collaboration with Regional Networks, NNPWE and ASK US in all parts of the country. Moreover, NEP+ provides different capacity building supports to ASK US to better implement this grant and beyond.

ASKUS, with the support of NEP+, would like to hire competent and qualified Program Manager and Finance Manager to enhance its organizational capacity.

Job summary

The program coordinator (PC), under the supervision of Executive Director of ASK US, will coordinate implementation of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and support programs, community-based A&Y PSS programs, youth champion programs, social networking, partnership and sub-national AYLHIV governance development, national policy advocacy programs on AYLHIV gender inequality and human rights to ensure AYLHIV social, economic, physical and health wellbeing.

Duties and responsibilities

Program Implementation and Capacity Development

  • Provide technical support to and technically oversee the implementation of program activities with partners and staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of both facility and community-based A&Y PSS, HIV treatment and care and support projects work plan, including budget and results framework.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of youth champion, social networking projects work plan, including budget and results framework.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the community Led monitoring program that are implementing in Addis Ababa,Dire Dawa and Harar
  • Coordinate and facilitate community based adolescent and youth differentiated service delivery model(C-AYDSDM)
  • Coordinate and facilitate AYLHIV associations development and governance arrangements
  • Support and coordinate delivery of the day-to-day project activities to ensure prompt and adequate delivery of results.
  • Work with staff and implementing partners to ensure reports and assigned resources are used in accordance with quality and transparent standards.
  • Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports, on time and with accurate data.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building and facilitate technical/ programming support and training.
  • Work with teams to develop appropriate prevention and awareness-raising/behavior change strategies.
  • Any other duties as directed by ASKUS management and supervisors.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

  • Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting system as well as evaluation of the program and projects.
  • Conduct frequent field visits to supervise, coordinate and monitor field level activities.
  • Produce reports on monitoring missions, program results, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Provide substantive inputs to the preparation of donor and ASKUS reports.
  • Support in the development of reports, proposals, case studies and other relevant documentation.

Advocacy, partnership and communication

  • Coordinate and support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns events, trainings and workshops regarding AYLHIV.
  • Establish partnership with the major Health sector actors and partners to ensure smooth relationship and communications are built to exchange results, success stories and best practices.

Grant and Financial Management

  • Develop work, spending and procurement plans in line with ASKUS’s financial policies.
  • Work with Finance department to ensure appropriate program budgets utilization.
  • Monitor budget implementation and coordinate budget re-alignments/ revisions, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with donor financial regulations.

Partnership and Resource Mobilization

  • Map and Identity potential donor and partners for source resources that found at all levels
  • Activity engaged in fundraising and resource mobilization  activity
  • Organize and coordinate different fundraising events

Others duties and responsibilities 

  • Undertakes any other activities as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

Reports to: Executive Director, ASKUS

About You

Required education and experiences:

  • Advanced university Msc degree in public health, social sciences or a related subject
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment, program and project implementation and in Ethiopian context
  • Extensive experience working with youth and adolescents particularly AYLHIV,
  • Hands-on and tangible experience designing APLHIV programs and projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills
  • Professional assessment report writing and presentation skills
