General Position Summary

To have a smooth implementation of the program operational plan, the security guards play a key role in the area. Working in the Operations Function, under the direction of the field office program coordinator, the security guard is responsible for the day-to-day routine tasks of the operations department. The post holder should be forward-looking, self-driven, operating under minimum supervision, and critical thinker in Area Office management role. Furthermore, considering the various expected systemic changes in the future, the post holder should be forward-looking, change-oriented, and able to develop/train the team in the changing environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Protecting the premises and property by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Monitoring surveillance equipment and inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
  • Controlling access points and ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
  • Responding to alarms and incidents and taking appropriate actions, including contacting emergency services if necessary.
  • Conduct regular patrols to check for irregularities and suspicious activities.
  • Enforcing rules, regulations, and protocols to maintain order and security.
  • Writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, or unauthorized persons.
  • Assisting in emergency response procedures and evacuations.
  • Providing customer service and assistance to visitors and employees.

Reports Directly To: Logistics officer

Works Directly With: All Staff in Abala

About You

Knowledge and Experience

  • One year or more experience as a security guard in non-profit organizations and mainly experience gained in INGO is required.
  • Grade 10 is complete and has relevant documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written Amharic and Afar languages.
