Cheshire Ethiopia (CE) is a pioneer non-governmental disability and development organization registered as a local civil society organization and committed to the provision of rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities in Ethiopia since 1962. CE has been re-registered with Registry Number 0505 on 12/07/2019 under the organization of Civil Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2019. CE has five centers where Dire Dawa is among them & Children with physical and development disabilities between the ages of 5-18 are main targets of our services who are benefitting from the different center based, community based and mobile outreach programs.-CE been working towards core thematic areas over the last six decades that includes tackling poverty, respect to human right with reference to mobility, functioning, and other social problems mainly related to health, livelihood, education, social participation, asset building and legal issues as well as addressing barriers to social inclusion of persons with disability (PwDs).

 

Position Required: Project Officer (1)

 

Job Summary: As a project officer of Child Empowerment & Enabling Environment project, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities involving five thematic areas of intervention (Health, Education, Social, Livelihood & Empowerment) &work closely with various stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of services and promote an inclusive environment for the target population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct home to home assessment of children & family of children with disability for enrolling in the project.
  • Develop TORs & implement project activities in alignment with the project objectives and goals.
  • Coordinate with local communities, families, and stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of disability rights and services.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for beneficiaries/health extension workers, community members, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, collecting data and preparing reports on outcomes and impact.
  • Collaborate with OPDs and other partners to enhance service delivery and support systems for children and youth with disabilities.
  • Assist in resource mobilization efforts to ensure project sustainability& develop proposals.
  • Develop communication materials to promote project activities and successes.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to strategic planning of the organization.

 

Salary: 14,206 ETB

About You

Qualifications, Experience and Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, social work, public health, and related fields.
  • Five years (5) years of proven experience in project management/development, community-based interventions specially working with person with disabilities, NGO experience is an Asset.
  • Excellent communication skill (English, Amharic, Afan Oromo & Somali), coordination, & organizational skills
  • Familiarities with local context and community dynamics in Dire Dawa will be an advantage.
  • Term of Employment: Contract (One Year with possible Extension).
