Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.

The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia, which are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global initiatives. The vision of the association is to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.

 

Position summary: 

 

The Project Coordinator reports to the Project Manager and receives additional instruction from the Deputy and Executive Director, is responsible for coordinating Project activities and closely work with consortium partners. S/he coordinates the planning, organizing, leading and implementing the duties and responsibilities of the program Department. S/he is responsible to manage program operation and budget management of the Integrated RMNCH + PPFP scale up in high caseload facilities projects at all levels and oversee the works of employees under his/her chain of command.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities 

 

  • Support the design and delivery of RMNCH+PPFP and integrated IPPFP at PHC level.
  • Participate and support a baseline assessments and similar formative assessments in the respective regions
  • Facilitate accreditation, certification, and technical support on training and mentorship interventions at PHC level.
  • Provide technical support in the roll out of training and mentoring interventions for mid-level providers at PHC level.
  • Provide technical support for RHBs, ZHD and WHO in rolling out PPFP and integrated RMNCH training and mentorship to low caseload facilities,
  • Conduct and provide technical support in the data compilation, analysis, and reporting of data on training and mentorship, service, and related areas at PHC level,
  • Support RHBs, ZHD and WHO for introduction of new contraceptive methods, such as hormonal IUD in Ethiopia through advocacy, training, and mentorship,
  • Support RHBs, ZHD and WHO for introduction and expansion of the PPH bundle at PHC level through technical advocacy, training, and mentorship,
  • Provide technical support during evaluation and documentation of different knowledge management products,
  • Provide technical support in institutionalization, sustainability, and transition of IPPFP and other integrated RMNCH interventions for government ownership and large scale up.
  • Establish & create common understanding among implementing partners and ensure smooth implementation of the project.
  • Coordinate and conduct high-level sensitization meeting to create awareness of project stakeholder as deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate and ensure efficient and effective implementation of the project with due consideration of timelines in delivering results.
  • Prepare project annual, bi-annual and quarterly plan and report
  • Conduct and participate in joint supportive supervision to the project implementation area and document the findings for improving results.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Organizations/ project teams and ensure timely communications and availing all project related data
  •  Ensure that all activities are accomplished maintaining its standard and quality results are delivered
  • Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation of project progresses are conducted and findings of best practices are documented and feed in to the planning process.
  • Do other activities as per the need of the organization and guidance from the supervisor.

Job Requirements (Must Criteria)

 

Education:

 

  • MSc in Midwifery /BSc in Midwifery, or MSc/MPH in Maternity, Health Informatics, Project Management, Nursing and other related studies with Midwifery background.

 

Experience:

 

  • 4 years for Masters and 6yrs experience years should be in supervisory position.
  • Proven experience in program management or coordination with Consortium members, FMOH & RHBs.
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience of working in NGO section and MNCH area at National and /or International level.
  • Having experience in facilitation of PPFP and Mentorship
  • Having professional license

 

Additional Training: 

 

  • Computer Training Certificate
  • Project /Program Management training Certificate is an added value
  • Having PPFP and Mentorship training are mandatory

 

Competencies/ Technical skills 

 

  • Excellent analytical skills and software’s (excel,  SPSS )
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Good planning and prioritizing skills;
  • Demonstrable professionalism and facilitation abilities;

 

Competencies/ Personal attributes

 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust and respect.

Languages

 

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic

 

Desired Criteria (An Asset)

 

  • Spoken and written local languages  is advantageous.
  • Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.
  • I/NGO experience is advantageous
  • Having BEmONC, SOJT, PMTCT, Preconception care, ANC, PNC, etc. training is more advantageous
  • Clearance from previous working organization (is a must after getting an offer letter)
