SNV Ethiopia with other consortia members consisting of Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) as the lead, Centre for People and Forests (RECOFTC), Land Equity International (LEI) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) has started implementing Transformative Land Investment (TLI) project to fill forementioned government and private sector gaps by building strong partnership with them. Hence, TLI is a multi-country Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) funded initiative in five target countries (Myanmar, Laos, Ethiopia, Ghana and Mozambique) countries that in recent years attracted considerable Land based Investors (LBIs).

Consultancy Objective

The purpose of LBIs needs assessment is to transforming existing LBIs from centralized monoculture-based investment models to inclusive business models that productively engage women, youth, and other vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Job Requirements

Interested consultant is expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and track record working with LBIs/large scale enterprises in agriculture and forestry sectors within Ethiopia’s context.
  • Experience in working with LBI/medium to large scale enterprise management and financing.
  • Good understanding of Ethiopia’s land sector and customary land governance systems.
  • Good understanding of responsible land-based investment standards such as the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGT), and the Responsible Agriculture Investments (RAI).
  • Conversant with environment and social safeguards in the LBI sector,
  • Experienced in the use of similar methodology and approach proposed to fulfill the tasks stipulated in the ToR;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver well researched and high-quality reports within an agreed timeframe.

Both the technical and financial proposals should be in a separate sealed and stamped envelope by writing the name of the specific assignment.

2% withholding tax will be deducted from the consultant fees at the source and will be paid by SNV – Ethiopia, assuming a TIN number and license can be provided.
