American Embassy Community Association (AMCOM ) is a non-profit organization providing services for the benefit of U.S. Government employees and their eligible family members

Main Duties:

The Cashier/Store clerk is responsible for assisting the Storekeeper with the routine duties involved in the warehousing and stocking of expendable supplies, and perishable and nonperishable merchan­dise. She/he is responsible for performing cashier & clerk duties. She/he is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the commissary and other AMCOM facilities

Description of Duties:

  • Performing cashier duties as needed
  • performing clerk duties
  • Entering sales into POS system, collecting payments and issuing receipts accurately and efficiently for all merchandise and services.
  • Loading, unloading and shelving supplies and merchandise carefully to avoid damage, including chilled merchandise in freezers and refrigerators.
  • Assisting with the receipt and inspection of all incoming merchandise and supplies.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of correct stock levels and adherence to stock rotation, inversion, and first in-, first out- practices.
  • Assisting in the pricing, expiring dates, arranging and stocking of all merchandise sold in the commissary.
  • Regular cleaning of the commissary, storage rooms and surrounding areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and scrubbing where appropriate.
  • Keeping sales and storage areas free from clutter and debris.
  • Monitoring storage rooms for signs of pests and immediately notifying supervisor of sightings.
  • Assisting in the cleaning of other AMCOM facilities.
  • Maintaining good personal hygiene.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in a customer service position in the retail, hospitality or tourism sector is required.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Amharic.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and respectfully with local staff and association members.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Western/U.S. customer service standards is preferred.
  • Diploma in Accounting, Management, Tourism, Hospitality or related field is a plus.
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office.
