Purpose of the Job:

To regulate and maintain quality cement production by testing and ensuring expected standard quality from the raw materials to the final cement production.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·   Conduct quality control tests.

·   Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.

·   Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.

·   Induce changes in composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, or chemical catalysts for quantitative or qualitative analysis.

·   Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with standards or to make improvements as needed.

·   Compile and analyse test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions.

·   Direct, coordinate, or advise personnel in test procedures for analysing components or physical properties of materials.

·   Responsible for the incoming raw material test follow up and get it confirmed.

·   Ensure the quality control ready for control functions of cement plant.

·   Ensure cement quality surpassing those described in ES.

·   Maintain sufficient inventory of chemicals, reagents & Lab equipment etc. As required for smooth functioning of Lab & X-ray analyser.

·   Arrange sampling & testing of materials from all the sampling provided on the plant.

·   Carry out inspection of chemicals, reagents & Lab equipment’s on time of arrival.

·   Ensure & check the physical tests as prescribed by ES.

·   Make coordination with in the quality control department.

·   Ensure the calibration of all instruments/apparatus machines periodically.

·   Prepare & submit daily/weekly/monthly test reports as applicable (for raw materials, raw meal, clinker & cement.

·   Test the daily average coal grinding Calorific value, coal proximate analysis and complete analysis of raw materials, raw meal, kiln feed, clinker and cement.

·   Follow the chemical preparation and standardization for all working procedures.

·   Calibrate instruments that can be calibrated within our scope.

·   Manage and arrange chemical stock movement from the laboratory stores.

·   Follow the laboratory chemicals expire date.

·   Follow the daily production process flow and report to the Head, Quality Assurance and Control if there are abnormal conditions are observed which is beyond his scope to correct or guide.

·   Follow the physical laboratory mold breaking and report to the quality Control head.

·   Prepare daily quality report to quality Control Head.

·   Coordinate the overall quality control activities based on the Quality Control and Assurance head instruction.

·   Supervise the working procedures in all the areas and give technical support.

·   Make sure that all the testing is done as per the quality plan and recorded in the log sheets as well as in the register properly neat and clean condition.

·   Make sure that all the working areas are neat and clean after all the activities are completed in a shift.

·   Ensure the safe disposal of laboratory wastes and spent/surplus samples.

·   Communicate clearly on instructions and information relating to potentially. dangerous situations and get confirmation that they are correctly understood.

·   Monitor the quality of laboratory solutions and chemical reagents.

·   Report accidents and incidents promptly to authorized persons according to approved procedures

·   Perform quality checks on newly delivered glassware and consumables according to the procedures

·   Study and identify research priorities which help in promoting the product quality and diversification

·   Report the research finding and its benefits.

Qualification and Experience:

·   Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with three (2) years of demonstrated experience.
