Background
The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is a health professionals association established in 1989 G.C. in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It envisions the attainment of an optimal standard of health for the people of Ethiopia and strives to promote better health services to the public.
The Addis Ababa City Administration in collaboration with key sector ministries and partners in promoting effective nurturing care interventions during early childhood to ensure that every child survives and develops his or her full potential in order to be a responsible and productive citizen that contributes to the national socio-economic growth and development.
EPHA in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Administration funded by the Big Win Philanthropy is undertaking a baseline study which is aimed at gaining knowledge that will help to shape the Addis ECD initiative. EPHA, therefore, is looking for a qualified Qualitative data analyst to conduct the qualitative part of the survey which entails conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), in-depth interviews (IDIs), key informant interviews (KIIs), and direct assessment of selected kindergartens (KGs) in Addis Ababa.
Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities
The data collectors are responsible for collecting data through interviews/abstraction using structured questionnaires appropriate for the age of the child.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand the data collection tools.
- Secure consent from each study participant
- Collect data using the appropriate data collection tools during the data collection period as assigned by the supervisor
- Ensure completeness of the data collected
- Keep/upload record of work completed
- Review error reports and respond promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Expected duration and working arrangement
The entire assignment including training of survey team, pre-test, and field data collection is expected to be accomplished in 3 months.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Education: BSc / MSc degree in public health, social sciences, and related fields
Data Collection experience
- Proven prior experience in collecting household/community and facility/KGs based survey data and error checking
- Adequate knowledge of interview techniques
- Able to generate proof of previous experience in Quantitative data collection involving households
Skills required:
- Possess thorough knowledge of interviewing methods
- Proficiency in data collection – consent, recording, and submitting
- Ability to do abstract from medical records and registers
- Fluent in written and spoken Amharic and English (Knowledge of multiple local languages is an advantage)
- Good at teamwork
- Willingness to travel to any of the regions for data collection
- Important: Readiness to start the assignment immediately upon recruitment
