With funding from the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) via Caritas Germany, we are launching the Integrated Emergency Response for Drought-Affected Agropastoral Communities Project in the Elwaye and Dubuluq Districts of the Borena Zone in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. To support the implementation of this project, ECC-SDCO is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions.

The Project Development Agents (PDAs) will play a vital role in the implementation of the GFFO-funded humanitarian project in Elwaye and Dubuluq districts. They will work closely with local communities to facilitate project activities, ensure community engagement, and support the project’s overall objectives. The PDAs will act as the link between the project and the communities, ensuring alignment with project goals and local needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

  • Mobilize communities to participate in project activities and provide feedback on project implementation.
  • Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote project awareness and ownership.

Implementation Support:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of project activities in accordance with the project work plan.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely delivery of project outputs and adherence to quality standards.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project progress and collect data on project impact.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on project activities, challenges, and achievements for submission to the Project Coordinator.

Capacity Building:

  • Identify training needs within the community and support capacity-building initiatives to enhance local skills and knowledge.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to community groups and stakeholders involved in project activities.

Collaboration with Local Authorities:

  • Strengthen partnerships with local government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations to enhance project effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Advocate for community needs and priorities to ensure alignment with project goals.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, contributing to learning and adaptation.
  • Support the documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and best practices for future project planning.

About You

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Agriculture, WASH, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in community development, humanitarian projects, or related fields, preferably in a similar role.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of project management principles and community engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with data collection methods and tools for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Driving license for motorcycles

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to engage effectively with diverse community groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders.
  • Language: Proficiency in English and Oromiffa is essential.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies
