Job Summary
The Driver and Expeditor is mainly responsible for providing driving service within and outside the assigned duty station and expected to provide support by handling routine and casual administrative and logistic support functions as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides driving service to staffs as assigned by your supervisor.
- Provides logistical support at site and off-site during implementation.
- Distributes and delivers outgoing letters, reports etc. addressed to third parties (partners, government offices, banks, etc.) and provides related administrative support services as required.
- Provides logistics support to the project team and administrative support team while organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences as required and instructed by your supervisor.
- Provides airport drop and pick up services to the HELVETAS staff, guests and partners as instructed by your supervisor.
- Maintains and updates the vehicle logbook for every journey as per established rules and procedures.
- Seeks information of movements from immediate supervisor.
- Handles settlement of telephone, internet, electricity, water bills; and checks and collects mails and parcels from post office box as instructed by your supervisor.
- Initiates and ensures that the vehicle under custody has got timely service and maintenance in keeping with its service-time; and follows up the progress and report while the vehicle is under-repair or under regular service.
- Uses vehicle exclusively for HELVETAS businesses as unauthorized use of the vehicle for personal benefits is strictly forbidden.
- Handles vehicle and its accessories with care and precaution and keeps the vehicle under custody neat and clean.
- Performs other reasonable duties as instructed by immediate supervisor from time to time.
Qualification, experience and essential skills:
- A minimum of 10th or 12th grades complete with certificate in auto-mechanic.
- 3rd grade valid driving license with a minimum of 7 years driving experience (4WD) in rural settings and in town, previous work experience with an international organization/NGOs is an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of driving cycle, trained in defensive driving skills and behavior, skills in vehicles inspection and ability to make sound judgement and take preventive actions.
- Ability to clearly understand and speak in English and Oromiffa.
- Excellent social competencies: Positive attitude; sociable, supportive and cooperative; excellent communication skill; the ability to manage stress and meet expectations.
- Preparedness to travel extensively in the project intervention areas and work outside normal working hours.
Terms and Conditions
- Duty station: Addis Ababa, with intensive travelling within the project intervention areas in Oromia.
- Salary & benefits: As per the salary scale of the organization for the position, and benefit packages and other terms in line with HELVETAS National Personnel Regulation 2022
- Duration of contract: up to September 2028
