About the Job

The Opportunity 

The overall purpose of this role is to lead and manage an EU supported project entitled ‘Enhancing School Readiness through Inclusive Quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)’ to increase access to quality ECCE for children in crisis situations, enhance their school readiness and reduce dropout rates in primary education in conflict affected areas. The post holder has responsibilities for the overall delivery of the ECCE project to support  the provision of safe and conducive pre-primary school environment for 4 to 6 old girls and boys that enhances their well-being, provides them stability, structure, and hope, promotes the children’s, especially girls’, right to play and education, and thus improves their school readiness. The post holder oversees the overall performance of the project and collaboratively works with key stakeholders and government departments. She/he has the responsibility of working with various regional and local government offices of Education, Finance, and Women Children and Youth Affairs. S/he will provide a hands-on support to staff who will be directly implementing the project.

 

 

 

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

About You

  • Master of Arts degree in education and related fields (Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Educational Planning and Management, social work, sociology, and other related fields of studies).
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience as Grant Accountant / Grant Finance/Grant Manager which at least 3 years in managerial position with NGOs in leading programs/ projects or demonstrated equivalent combination.
  • Technical experience and knowledge in the area of early childhood care and education interventions, including leading emergency projects, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the projects.
  • Progressive experience of working for INGOs and with local NGOs and partners in the implementation of programmes and support in institutional development.
