sequa gGmbH is a globally operating non-profit development organization. Since 1991, sequa has carried out programmes and projects of international cooperation in close collaboration with the German private sector. sequa offers know-how and long-term experience in capacity development for chambers and associations (BMOs), vocational education and training, private sector development and trade promotion. The organization is based in Bonn, Germany. sequa employs more than 100 persons (2023) and reported a turnover of EUR 60 m in 2023.
The Project
Within the GIZ Program Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”, sequa implements the “SME Support Scheme targeting growth-orientated SMEs” project in Ethiopia. With this, sequa aims to facilitate business growth and job creation of Ethiopian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by increasing their competitiveness and productivity so that their products and services will satisfy the demand on local and international markets. A specific focus will be provided on women-owned SMEs, job creation, and employability training for women.
Benefiting companies receive flexible and demand-oriented funding (management consulting, technical training, financial competence/business plan development, qualification, applied research activities, etc.). A particular focus will be on advisory services to improve access to finance. The grant scheme will contribute to SMEs’ change management and business growth.
Green Star Trading plc is a newly established salt manufacturing company located in Hawassa. It has a production capacity of 40 quintals per hour and around 125 staff members. The company is equipped with automated machines that produce iodized and industrial salt and supplies corporate customers in the Hawassa and Addis Ababa markets. NGOs, Unilever, and Supermarkets are the primary target market groups.
This assignment aims to establish an ERP system. It will benefit Greenstar Salt Processing by automating manual processes, increasing operational efficiency, and enhancing productivity across all departments. By streamlining production, the system will reduce errors, improve data accuracy, and facilitate better decision-making. Additionally, it will provide secure, centralized data storage with easy access for employees and management, enabling real-time monitoring and control of operations.
Your Tasks / Responsibilities
- Design a robust and scalable ERP system architecture that seamlessly integrates with Greenstar Salt Processing’s existing workflows and supports future business growth,
- Develop a modular ERP solution that covers the core functions of the organisation, including production management, financial management, inventory and storage management, and other relevant departments,
- Data Migration & Integration: Execute a thorough data migration plan, transitioning all relevant data from manual and legacy systems to the newly developed ERP system,
- Automate key business processes across all identified departments, streamlining operations, reducing manual intervention, and improving overall efficiency,
- Enhance inventory and storage management through automated tracking, stock level monitoring, and efficient resource allocation,
- Develop a comprehensive reporting system within the ERP that provides real-time insights into departmental performance and overall business operations. Note*- Ensure that the reporting mechanism includes dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trend analysis, enabling proactive decision-making,
- System Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous testing of the ERP system, including functionality, performance, security, and compatibility testing, to ensure that it meets all specified requirements,
- Post-Deployment Support & Maintenance: Offer ongoing technical support and maintenance services post-deployment to address any issues, ensure system stability, and provide updates as necessary (this activity should not be part of the financial offer, but the applicant must prove ability and provide pricing modalities),
- User Training & Documentation: Provide thorough training sessions for all relevant staff, ensuring they are fully equipped to utilize the ERP system effectively in their day-to-day operations.

About You
Your Qualification / Skills
- Team members or individual consultants with a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field,
- Relevant certifications in web development, e-commerce, or related technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, AWS etc.),
- Expertise in ERP development platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or others).
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle DB),
- Solid understanding of web security best practices, including SSL certificates and secure payment processing,
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide technical support and maintenance.
Your Working Experience
- 6+ years of experience in ERP system development for manufacturing and processing companies (proven track record),
- Experience in the development of management systems for production/industrial complexes,
- Proven experience designing and developing web apps, with a portfolio of completed projects.
