Job Description
Overview: Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) Ethiopia is seeking applicants for radio producer role for Integrated Youth Activity (IYA) project funded by USAID.
The position holder works within a radio production team and as part of a larger youth-focused media development team. The youth-radio program is part of a transmedia campaign that addresses multiple issues related with Ethiopian youth. She supports the conceptualization and design of a youth-focused weekly radio program, scouting and production of stories, editing of different episodes as well as producing various radio PSAs.
Reports to: Transmedia lead
Specific Roles and Responsibilities Include:
- Support the development and design of a youth-focused radio program that can be broadcasted and/or featured in other platforms including social media.
- Conduct research and interviews as needed to support the production of the radio program and other media components.
- Regularly travel to different cities to identify and scout youth who can be featured in the radio program, following agreed-upon guidelines.
- Interview identified youth to come up with their compelling stories in relation to the topics raised in each episode.
- Serve as a host for the radio program and other media productions as required.
- Ensure high quality production and programming using software like Adobe Audition or other similar, compatible, high-end audio software.
- Ensure that all messages transmitted through the radio program are accurate, up-to-date, and appropriate.
- Participate in editorial and other meetings related to the production of the radio program and other media outputs as required.
- Ensure timely reviewed produced materials are in a manner and according to schedule giving ample time to incorporate feedback in the final production.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
Desired Qualification and Attributes
- High school complete and above.
- At least one year experience on youth radio production and hosting is a must.
- At least one year experience in collecting stories from regions is a requirement.
- Ability to travel to regions to scout, identify, recruit youth and conduct interviews is essential.
- Working knowledge on social and behavioral communication is preferred.
- Proficiency in English and Amharic, knowledge of other Ethiopian languages is a plus
- Creative and strong written and oral communication
