The job location is Yabello, Borena with frequent travel to Dubuluk, Konso and South Omo Zones
Main purpose of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing driving services and related assignments for the Borena and Konso offices under the direct supervision of Office Admin and Logistics Lead. Support the day to day support functions of the field office team. The job holder is responsible for the smooth Driving service to the field office and proper management of the assigned Vehicle.

Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of documents and other items.
- Update vehicle logbook on regular basis
- Meet at the airport and drive staff, official personnel /visitors to Tearfund locations or assigned destinations when officially approved.
- Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, incident records, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, working safety belts, and necessary spare parts.
- Ensure that the steps required by Tearfund and Ethiopian government rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
Driving assignments are carried out safely and on time
- Help set a sub garage for major servicing of vehicles and repairs
- Must attend trainings on safe driving, use of four wheel drive, the art of driving through the mud, the use of both electrical and the manual winch, safe engaging and releasing of gears and other areas of need
- Comply with all Tearfund standards and communicate to all passengers on the basic concepts of the vehicle rules.
- To provide regular vehicle and other equipment reports as required
- Perform administrative activities and other logistics duties when not driving as required.
- Ensure that the vehicle is only used for Tearfund approved purposes.
- Keep and respect tearfund driver rule and conduct.
- Responsible for the collection, storage, transport and final delivery of all goods in the Tearfund vehicle when officially approved.
- Ensure every passenger wears a safety belt before starting driving the vehicle.
- No mobile phones are to be answered when driving.
- The driver should manage their time properly and report promptly to work. Should also ensure that s/he is adequately rest prior to long journeys.
- The driver should familiarize with the local area and planned journey route prior to departure, particularly any security issues to be aware of
- Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops
- Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle.
- Perform any other logistic, transport, technical services and other duties as may be required or assigned.

- Closely liaises with Senior Projects Coordinator, Borena and field Coordinators, Borena and Konso team and other country office team and visitors

Qualifications
- Minimum 10 or 12 years’school completion with valid third-level driving license from recognized institutions.
- Recognised qualification as a Driver (License for driving4 wheelers SUV,Pickup Trucks and minibuses.)
- Vehicle Maintenance/Technician
Experience
- Minimum five years work experience as a professional driver; safe driving record; knowledge of drivingrules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Experience of working in the field
- Work experience of administrative tasks
- Must have keen sense of ethics and integrity in dealing with staff, visitors, clients and service providers
- Must have a clean driving license and no driving convictions
- Must be ableto meet timeline for delivery of services
- Results –based and client services oriented, as well as excellent organization skills are a MUST.
- Demonstrated behaviour of professional and personal ethics, transparency and openness
- Proven NGO work experience
Skills/Abilities
- Off-road driving (4×4,winching)
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance issues and perform minor vehicle repairs.
- Administrative skills
- Basic communication skills.
- Resourcefulness and ingenuity competent driver with valid licence
- Basic knowledge of English is required.
