About the Job

Positive Action for Development (PAD) is an Ethiopian resident charity organization. The organization was legally registered at the Federal level by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Charities and Societies agency on June 6/2011 with a registration number 2330. PAD would like to hire qualified professionals for the following positions.
Duties and responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities:
Working with and reporting to the PAD Finance Coordinator, Finance Office (Disbursement and Collection Officer) participates in recording and posting of financial data; participates in keeping up-to-date, pertinent records of the books of accounts and prepares payments.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
•    Maintains adequate security measures for the safekeeping of documents in his/her possession,
•    Prepares payments with due consideration to deductions (advance, loan…)
•    Checks all incoming receipts, invoices, and petty cash payment documents.
•    Ensures that pertinent financial documents are at all times up-to-date, orderly, well-kept, and readily available for reference and audit when required.
•    Ensures that all transactions are governed by the organization’s procedures, rules, and regulations, and controls and corrects deviations.
•    ensure the smooth running of the annual/donor audit and implement auditors’ recommendations.
•    Support the field office finance team
•    properly codes and records expenditures, income, and any other related transactions in the accounting system.
•    Review debtors’ and creditors’ accounts, generate aging analysis on a monthly basis, and report overdue balances to the Finance Coordinator
•    Processes bank transfers to field offices
•    sequentially arrange financial files, and label financial records in a professional and easily retrievable manner
•    assist with auditors to ensure the smooth running of the audit and implements auditors’ recommendations.
•    Prepares and submits monthly and other regular or on-request financial reports, as per the reporting requirements of PAD, project funders, and other stakeholders according to an agreed timetable.
•    Assists the Finance Coordinator in the implementation of the internal control system and financial policy of the organization, as well as in the identification, review, and development of new procedures and systems.
•    Prepare and affect tax payments, including income tax, withholding tax, and pension

About You

Qualification:

BA Degree and above in Accounting and Finance
Experience:

At least 2 years relevant experience out of which 1 year experience in an NGO

Skills Required, Attitudes, and Attributes:

  • Team player with excellent financial and communication skills
  • Skilled computer literacy in all Microsoft Office programs, and Peachtree Accounting software
  • Knowledge of various donors’ financial policies and procedures
  • Ability to produce financial statements & reports on time
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

No required: TWO one for Addis Ababa one for Dessie
Salary: As per organizational scale
