About RACIDA:

Rural Agency for Community Development and Assistance (RACIDA) is a regional non-profit organization headquartered in Kenya and with country Programs in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia. The goal of RACIDA is to build community resilience, promote peace and security and prevent humanitarian crisis during emergencies.

The organization development program includes improving access to water through construction and rehabilitation of water facilities; promoting sustainable pastoral livelihoods; natural resource management and peace building & reconciliation. The RACIDA Ethiopia program strategy encompass mitigation, adaptation and preparedness measures to natural and manmade disasters, such as recurrent droughts, weather extreme, floods, conflict & related displacements.

Overall responsibilities:

RACIDA Ethiopia is looking for a motivated and talented Fundraising manager who will help us grow and expand our pool of donors. Working closely with the Ethiopia program coordinator, the program managers and team leaders, the Fundraising manager will help secure future funding streams. The Fundraising Manager will be required to research and identify potential new funders, write fundable proposals and build relationships with donors. The fundraising manager will cover the whole range of fundraising duties and needs to think strategically. She/He will need to be confident in representing the organization externally and coordinate relationships as required.

Functional responsibilities:

  • Responsible for proactive research and analyzing funding opportunities, including Leads and potential calls for proposals and make recommendations on their feasibility.
  • Research and identify new donors operational in Ethiopia and in the Horn of Africa.
  • Build up relations with existing and new donors to present new and wider areas of RACIDA’s work to the donor to sustain and expand the relationship for the future.
  • Writing quality proposals and timely for donors funding.
  • Proactively follow an Request For Proposal (both broader and targeted) to submit quality proposals.
  • With the program coordinator and the country director she/he will review the strength of RACIDA and develop the RACIDA Ethiopia program fundraising strategy with a focus on a minimum of 3 years plan with diverse range of funding streams through direct engagement.
  • Use RACIDA staff technical knowledge to understand our work in Somlai and Oromia regions.
  • Develop and maintain funding management system that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other donor requirements.
  • Maintaining donors’ data base and records

Coordination:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with RACIDA Ethiopia field offices and program/project managers and staffs to conduct need assessments, to receive regularly situation updates, etc.
  • Regularly update RACIDA field offices and program/project managers with present priorities of donors.
  • Attend federal level Humanitarian Coordination and Thematic meetings and donors organized meetings with a special focus on promoting RACIDA programs in Ethiopia and networking.
  • Coordinate and network with humanitarian organizations and UN agencies in Somali and Oromia regions.

About You

Experience and education:

  • Master/Bachler degree in rural development, food security or related fields. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years evidenced track record of developing successful proposals to donors.
  • 10 years’ experience of working in INGO/NGO
  • Demonstrable networking experience.
  • Strong written and verbale communication skills.
  • Outstanding research skills, particularly in identifying potential donors.
  • Competent in working under pressure for deadlines with strict attention and accuracy.
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, fast learner and independent thinker.
  • Good listener and maintains accountability for its actions.
  • Active team member, collaborative with a can-do-attitude.
  • Female applicants are encouraged.
