The Opportunity 

Plan International Ethiopia is looking for a Gender, equality, diversity, and inclusion coordinator for the “PlayMatters and UNICEF project”. The position holder will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the PIE’s strategy by developing & ensuring the mainstreaming and promotion of gender equality and inclusion in all PlayMatters and UNICEF projects, strengthening the empowerment of girls’ women, and persons with disabilities to close gender gaps and help overcome gender-based inequality and discrimination.  This would be demonstrated in undertaking responsibilities, which include, ensuring gender transformative approaches are used in UNICEF and PMs projects, participating and ensuring gender and inclusion activities and indicators are included in projects while proposal design and development, providing capacity building training for plan International and partners’ staff, strengthen networking and resource mobilization, strengthen partnership with organizations and NGOs that have similar visions, missions and goals on Gender and Inclusion work and to monitor gender and Inclusion activities are progressed well as planned.

 

 

 

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

About You

  • Education with a University Degree in gender studies, Sociology, Psychology, Social Psychology,Social Anthropology, and related feilds with at least 5+ Years of relevant experience
  • Strong expertise in gender transformative programming and a good understanding of intersectionality and inclusion.
  • Experience in providing technical support and oversight to Education programs.
  • Experience in capacity development of project staff; strong facilitation and training skills.
  • Ability to plan work and meet deadlines when working under pressure on several projects.
  • Experience working for an international organization and with local partners.
