Job Descriptions

The General Account section head oversees end to end all daily activities of the accounting and supervises end-of-period processes and supports the analysis of the periodical business performance; he is charged with motivating, developing, and creating a departmental culture and taking full responsibility for the success or failure of the quarterly/annual audit process.

Scope of responsibilities  

• Ensure that proper books of accounts are maintained for recording the financial transactions of the company
• Ensure that checks, receipts and other financial documents are kept properly and safeguarded against misuse,
• Ascertained that receivables are collected & legal financial obligations are met on time,
• Install & maintain proper accounting expenses classifications, accumulations of reporting system which is necessary to details for major source of revenue,
• Coordinate & manage general ledger reconciliation process every month as per FD checklist
• Ensure the timely settlement of payables & undertakings; taxes & fees payable are paid timely
• Ensures that payments are effected as per approved policies & procedures and legal requirements;
•  Undertakes analysis periodically of the  financial performances of the company, recommends measures for improvements,
• Check and ascertained vouchers requests of cheques & petty cash; approve daily transactions by checking journals, necessary entry for adjustments & corrections
• Follow up & make sure all import invoiced, port handling charges & inland transport fright are settled and properly documented,
• Follow up with transactions to collect documents from customs,
• Make sure all invoices are settled in a proper manner,
• Follow up on any LC, TT, CAD applications and identify on what stage they are and send report once in a week
• Follows and clears unnecessary balances of GIT (goods in transits) and

• BA Degree in Accounting  from Recognized University; a  minimum of  7 years  relevant experience  preferably in manufacturing sector, at least two years in supervisory or same position and basic computer application and peachtree accounting is mandatory
