GNE has been committed to improving lives marginalized community segments through initiatives in child protection, education, Basic health services, Income Generation Activities (IGAs), Humanitarian and emergency, Livelihood for refugees and host communities, Climate and Environment sectors. GNE operates in eight regions of Ethiopia that includes; Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia regions and City Administration of Addis Ababa.

Overview of the Position
- As a member of the IGA team, IGA Officer shall provide technical support to the program operational projects of GNE in the areas of Village Saving & Loan Associations (VSLA), financial inclusion, marketing of cooperative products, conduct market assessment and Capacity development of cooperative members and staffs at project level. He/she also oversee the field implementation, monitor and report all project activities in support of income-generating activity (IGA) interventions serving the poor and vulnerable community segments. The candidate’s thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the GNE-IGA operation consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and Implement of Income-Generating Strategies:
- Conduct market research and feasibility studies to identify and evaluate potential income-generating ventures.
- Develop and implement innovative business plans and strategies.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities (grants, loans, investments).
- Manage and monitor the financial performance of income-generating activities.
- Oversee and Manage Income-Generating Projects:
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of income-generating projects.
- Ensure the efficient and effective utilization of resources.
- Monitor project progress and address any challenges or issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
- Build and Maintain Relationships:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders (clients, donors, and partners).
- Network with other organizations and individuals in the relevant field.
- Represent the organization at relevant events and conferences when delegated.
- Produce Progress report to both internal and external stakeholders within deadline.
- Team Management (if applicable):
- Supervise and mentor a team of staff involved in income-generating activities at project level.
- Identify the IGA staffs gaps, develop training modules and provide training to curve skill gaps enhance the performance of the department.
- Set performance target to staffs under his/her supervision and motivate and inspire staff to achieve performance targets.
- Bachelor of Art (BA) or Masters in Cooperative Marketing, Cooperative management & Auditing, Business Marketing and Economics.
- Direct experiences of 4 years’ for BA and 2 years for masters holders same or relevant position mandatory.
- An experience in an NGO setting is an asset.
- Have a training SACCOs (Saving and Credit Cooperatives) and practical experiences on SACCOs management.
- Have a sound experience in cooperative product development, Product marketing and business development
- Have rich experience in development of Standard Business Plan and provided sound Business Development Services [BDS] to cooperatives can provide evidence for it.
- Ability to adapt to challenging environments and work under pressure.
