JSI has actively contributed to various areas, including primary health care, community health programs, digital health, health information systems (HIS), supply chain management, public health emergency responses, and social and behavior change.
Position Summary
JSI is seeking a qualified Insurance Broker to act as a liaison between JSI and insurance providers, managing comprehensive health and life insurance services for our employees. The broker will ensure optimal employee coverage while complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
Scope of Work
JSI Ethiopia (client) seeks an experienced consultant that can work as a broker. The broker’s responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
- Product Evaluation: Conducting thorough market analysis and recommending suitable health and life insurance products, considering coverage, cost, exclusions, and benefits.
- Needs Assessment: Performing surveys and assessments to determine employee insurance needs and preferences.
- Negotiation: Negotiating competitive terms and pricing with insurance carriers to secure optimal deals for JSI employees.
- Enrollment Facilitation: An insurance broker is typically expected to facilitate staff claims payments with the insurance company by assisting employees in preparing and submitting claims. They act as an intermediary between the employee and the insurer, clarifying details and expediting the claims process. Brokers help gather necessary documentation required for claims approval and monitor the status of submitted claims, following up with the insurer on behalf of the employee. Additionally, they provide guidance on the claims process and address any potential issues that may arise. Overall, brokers should ensure that claims are processed smoothly and efficiently.
- Ongoing Support: Providing continuous support to employees regarding their insurance policies, including claims assistance, policy changes, and inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
The Broker will:
- Serve as the primary liaison between JSI and insurance providers.
- Provide regular updates on market trends, policy evaluations, and strategic recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations governing employee benefits.
- Conduct training sessions to educate employees on their insurance options and processes.
- Assist in identifying and connecting with suitable healthcare facilities across various locations.
Contract Duration:
This agreement is valid for two years, subject to periodic reviews to ensure alignment with organizational needs and regulatory changes.
Reporting Structure:
The Broker will report directly to the HR department, providing regular updates on policy performance, employee feedback, and any service delivery challenges.
About You
Compliance:
It is a general requirement for an insurance broker to provide specific documentation and information to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This includes:
Licensing: Brokers must have a valid license issued by the National Bank of Ethiopia, which regulates insurance activities in the country.
Detailed Working Relationship: Brokers may need to disclose their working relationships with insurance companies, including any contractual agreements and the scope of services they provide.
Testimonials: testimonials or references from previous clients can help demonstrate the broker’s reliability and effectiveness.
Tax Compliance: Brokers are typically required to demonstrate compliance with tax regulations, providing proof of tax registration and payments.
