The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an International Catholic Organization and the work of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits). JRS was founded on 14th November 1980 in Rome, Italy with the mission, to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. Over the years, the work of JRS has expanded globally to incorporate the ever-changing needs of refugees, internally displaced persons, migrants and other forcibly displaced persons. The JRS-Ethiopia programme was established in 1982 two years right after the international office establishment to assist thousands of displaced people (Internal and external), driven from their homes by political unrest and natural disasters.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for delivering English and Amharic language courses for refugees & Host community.
- Prepare, revise, update curriculum of English and Amharic language courses
- Prepare and revise curriculum for various levels
- Prepare quarterly and weekly lesson plans
- Prepare & update Teaching aids and materials
- Strictly follow and ensure the timely implementation in accordance with the prepared lesson plan prepared.
- Regularly evaluate the students and document their marks
- Assess the students’ performance, record and document the results in soft and hard copies.
- Check and assess students work, and providing feedback
- Conduct classroom activities with student centered methodology to improve learning through innovative and interactive ways.
- Integrating technology with teaching in effective ways.
- Helping students improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through individual and group session, conversation, audio and debate sessions.
- Providing one-on-one instruction to students who have difficulty grasping a concept
- Execute the daily lessons effectively by applying different methodologies depending on the content.
- Create and ensure students engagement in a lively class atmosphere
- Evaluate students’ performances including grading homework assignments and making note of how well students participate in discussions and teaching-learning process
- Ensure the provision of module assessments after the completion of each module
- Emphasize the rules of composition, grammar and sentence construction.
- Teach students to think critically when studying literature
- Take daily attendance, identify dropouts and conduct home visits,
- Select students who will be eligible for monthly transport allowance and report to immediate supervisor
- Facilitate educational trip once in a year,
- Facilitate the graduation of students who completed their successive trainings
- Integrate graduated with livelihood section to take vocational trainings
- Ensure the completion the three modules for each level students.
- Ensure the promotion of each level students to the next level by providing final exam after the completion of the three modules of each level

Job Requirements
Experience:
- 3 to 5 Years relevant experience
Qualification:
- B.A Degree in Literature, English Language
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Speaking and writing in a second language: Arabic and Tigrigna are advantageous
- Familiar with different methods of meeting facilitation and decision-making processes
- Conference and event planning experience
- Self-motivated, highly organized team player
- An entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit
