Our company, Senselet-a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is expanding and increase our capacity of the business. Looking for a hands-on, passionate and forward-looking Maintenance Engineer who is eager to be part of a growing company to improve together and have an impact on the business.

The Maintenance Engineer main responsibility is to maintain expected functionality of machineries with reduced downtime and improve company business process. The individual will be responsible for leading shift maintenance operation, mechanical and electrical, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing PMS plans to improve the high standard use of the production systems including new installations.

Targets and deliverables  

• Read processing machineries manuals and familiarize with company equipment’s. And submit process flow chart and working principles of all machineries and instrumentations in two weeks period after joining.
• Follow up on all machinery startups (including production/packaging machines) and execute required adjustments until machines run stable.
• Lead routine rounding for parameters and deviations, as per daily record log and communication with shift production/packaging/quality operators team leaders.
• Execution of maintenance schedule of the processing and packaging machines, ensuring maximum lifetime of machinery by scheduled maintenance and minimum downtime due to unscheduled maintenance, in close collaboration with quality, processing and packaging teams.
• Execute breakdowns and reduce downtime.
• Submit Job reports and breakdown analysis report on the day of execution.
• Being the only authorized Workshop area owner, shift maintenance engineer control workshop tools and equipment, report for brake and missing. And apply 5S/kaizen principle.
• Request workshop consumables and submit spare parts usage report.
• Shift handover/takeover (HOTO) communication (on communication board and telegram); write job done, deviations and comments.
• Strictly use daily record log book, defect, downtime, Safety, maintenance job done and breakdown analysis reporting formats, (On the same day of observation/execution).
• Issue daily jobs and supervise and evaluate maintenance operators.
• Be model for your maintenance team; on food safety, general safety, punctuality and other company rules.
• Train machine operator on operational safety, machine startup/shutdown procedures and operation monitoring.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving during operations to avoid downtime with primary focus and priority on the production line and operation.
• While execution of any maintenance work, ensure compliance to product quality targets, food safety and hygiene.
• Create a work environment with safety as the highest priority.
• Any other tasks and deliverables as given by the Maintenance Manager.

Education: Degree Electrical/Automation/Mechanical Engineering. Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience for a private organization in a maintenance role, preferably in FMCG sector (e.g. food processing, brewery) or manufacturing sector preferably as shift maintenance team leader.

Technical skills: Good in Amharic and English (speaking, reading and writing), strong electrical skills, strong technical problem-solving abilities, practical and technical thinker, good communications skills, basic knowledge on food safety, hygiene, HSSE&S. ability to read electrical and mechanical specifications and schematics and provide improvements.

Social skills: Able to adapt and show responsibility under challenging circumstances, serious and hard-working, eager to learn, good feedback mentality, result oriented.

Entrepreneurial skills: Proven ability and experience to learn about new developments in your field, flexible and autonomous working, leading by example and hands-on mentality.
