About the Job

Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Denmark-based international NGO registered under certificate # 1083 by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations and working to improve the wellbeing of particularly the rural and pre-urban people in Ethiopia. DCA’s Programme mainly focus on save live, building resilience and fighting inequality targeting highly disaster-prone areas in Oromia, Amhara, Afar, and Gambella regions.

Currently, the DCA Ethiopia Office is looking for a competent MEAL Coordinator. The MEAL Coordinator, play leading role for the development of effective M&E systems at field office level & lead field level MEAL and documentation system.

Position Objective

The overall responsibility of the post is to coordinate and play leading role for the development of effective M&E systems at field office level &lead field level MEAL and documentation system for evidence-based decision making and accountability.

Purpose

Manage data collection, analysis and interpretation to track project indicators; generate and communicate progress reports and human-interest stories; facilitate joint monitoring and learning forums; initiate and lead needs assessment, facilitate baseline and end-line survey, mid-term and terminal evaluations; provide technical guidance for DCA Gambella team on matters related to MEAL; and ensure adherence to international humanitarian standards.

Engagement

  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and interpretation to monitor project indicators. Generate and share progress reports and human-interest stories, facilitate joint monitoring and learning forums, and lead needs assessments.
  • Periodically assess project outcomes and impact, evaluating the effectiveness of methods used to achieve measurable results.
  • Provide training in planning, monitoring, and evaluation to DCA and partner staff, enhancing their skills and capabilities.
  • Collect monthly and quarterly performance reports from field-based project staff, monitor project progress, and keep the project team updated.
  • Actively participate in periodic monitoring and evaluations in refugee camps and host communities to oversee DCA and partner projects.
  • Collaborate with RRS, UNHCR, and government counterparts on large-scale, multi-sector needs assessments in the region, develop comprehensive reports based on findings, and share updates with the team.
  •  Design and implement learning agendas to capture lessons learned from project implementation, conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions, and integrate learning into program adaptations.
  • Establish and maintain effective CFRM with beneficiaries and stakeholders and ensure that program activities meet organizational and donor accountability standards.

Delivery

  • Develop and Maintain the Project Management Box (PMbox): Create and manage a comprehensive PMbox that includes project information, RF, MEAL plans, DIP, IPTT.
  • Ensure Timely and High-Quality Reporting: Ensure that reports required by partners, donors, and RRS are submitted punctually and adhere to the specified requirements and guidelines.
  • Coordinate MEAL Activities with Project Teams: In consultation with the HO MEAL Manager, work with project and technical teams both within the organization (DCA) and with partner organizations to ensure MEAL activities are effectively integrated into project planning and execution.

About You

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of first Degree in statistics, economics, development studies or another related fields.
  • BA, BSC, MA, MSC degree in similar fields and Six years of relevant experience with BA/BSC and four years relevant experience with MA/MSc
  • Good knowledge of the refugee’s operations in Ethiopia; more specifically in Gambella
  • Experience in working with NGOs/ humanitarian agencies.
  • Excellent communication and Organization skills, judgement and tact and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good report writing skills and manipulation of digital data collection and analysis packages.
  • Good knowledge of the operational area is advantageous.
