About the Job

Milk Sourcing & Procurement

  • Develop and implement milk sourcing strategies to ensure a consistent and cost-effective supply of raw milk.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with dairy farmers, cooperatives, and collection centers.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing and contractual agreements with milk suppliers while ensuring fair trade practices.
  • Monitor and analyze milk supply trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to optimize sourcing strategies.
  • Implement and oversee supplier development programs to improve milk quality and yield.

Negotiation & Relationship Management

  • Engage in regular negotiations with suppliers to maintain favorable procurement terms while ensuring sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with dairy stakeholders, including farmers, cooperatives, and government bodies.
  • Resolve disputes or supply-related conflicts with suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Advocate for supplier training and support initiatives to improve milk production and collection efficiency.

Operational Efficiency & Logistics

  • Oversee milk collection operations across various locations, ensuring timely and efficient milk transportation.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance operational efficiency in milk collection.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of raw milk to maintain quality and reduce wastage.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards in all milk sourcing and collection activities.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to conduct regular milk testing and supplier audits.
  • Implement hygiene and best practices training for milk suppliers to improve raw milk quality.
  • Stay updated on local dairy regulations and ensure all sourcing activities align with legal requirements.
  • Identifies and coordinates the training programs for DDP staff to adapt developed milk collection methods, systems of milk QC/QA, milk pricing, and extension services.
  • Sets up, organizes, and implements the day-to-day updated dairy husbandry training courses for local farmers.
  • Organizes and implements projects for day-to-day updated methods of milk collection, milk QC/QA, and milk pricing system and to secure DDP operations (maintain and growth).
  • Collaborate with other departments and external partners to ensure the successful implementation of dairy development initiatives.

Other responsibility

  • Assist in the management of project budgets and timelines.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and partners.
  • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of dairy development projects and programs.
  • Acts as an internal auditor and as an advisor to develop and improve the quality management system of raw milk collection and raw milk QC/QA.

Provide support to the Dairy Development Manager in any other tasks as required

About You
  • BA Degree in supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Animal Science, Business administration, or other related fields of study.
  • 5 years and above experience in the Procurement/ Sourcing of any agricultural commodity.
  • Good communication skills (English, Oromifa, and Amharic language is mandatory)
  • Good negotiation skill
  • Good in building and maintaining relations with farmers and others.
  • Passionate about working with smallholder farmers.
