Background

Fikir Ethiopia National Association of Intellectual Disabilities (FENAID) secured a grant on the project entitled “Enhancing access to Inclusive Education for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities at Primary School” for a period of one year (November 2024- October 2025).

The overall objective of the project are:

  • Strengthening civic actors’ capacity to address challenges with access to education for persons with intellectual disabilities in Addis Ababa
  • Fostering multi-stakeholders’ partnership and engagement to address challenges with access to education

Position Summary

The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer will work with the FENAID program team to oversee and ensure the collection of quality M&E data for the project. The M&E Officer will be responsible for directly supporting the implementation of the “Enhancing Access to Inclusive Education for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities at Primary School” project in Addis Ababa. He/she will oversee the monitoring and data collection of the project, track indicators, conduct surveys, analyze data to provide insight to the project team, and contribute to report writing. He/she will ensure that performance monitoring and results reporting tools and processes across the project are in place, effectively implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop M&E Plan for the project.
  • Work closely with the program team and local partners, to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities and results.
  • Ensuring that monitoring formats and standards are followed, that reports are accurate and of high quality, and that reports are  submitted on a regular basis.
  • In accordance with the monitoring plans, compile progress against indicators and report back to the team.
  • Develop data quality assessment Plan.
  • Conduct spot checks on the team’s monthly reports and data collection.
  • Actively participate in any additional evaluation, M&E activities including but not limited to baseline surveys, mid-term, end line surveys.

Program Management

  • Contribute to learning/research agenda.
  • Build the capacity of all relevant team members to implement program monitoring tools, accurately enter program data into relevant databases, and enable them to develop excellent reports and other documents.
  • Document lessons learned and success stories of the project.
  • Ensure adherence to program management minimum standards in carrying out his/her duties, advising and supporting other staff in the same as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

Required Skills and Experience

Education 

  • BA/BSc or equivalent, preferable in business administration, statistics, Economic, public administration or international development.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in M&E
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English and Amharic languages.
  • Previous experience working on USAID/NGOs funded programs preferred
  • Relevant experience survey/data collection techniques, data entry, data verification, and analysis
  • Good understanding and skills in data management.
  • Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Strong team coordination, listening, and consensus building skills.
  • Experience  working on public relations and other communications for an organization.
