The main purpose of the Position
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.
Accountabilities
Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e., perform as a nurse or anaesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience. Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
Give feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Since 2022, MSF Belgium has been providing care for child malnutrition and outbreak response activities in DGH. In 2025, MSF Belgium will focus more on work in the community and community activities by supporting several health posts in the management of child malnutrition while continuing to offer care in DGH. For this reason, we are recruiting Nurses who can perform the following tasks:
- Willingness to work in rural outreach sites on a daily basis movement to and from the base.
- Conducting home visits with the medical team and the community health workers in the village.
- Flexiblity to support other outreach team when there is a need.
- Flexibility to support ATFC and ITFC activities in dubti general hospital whenever there is the need.
- Flexibility to support any outbreak response activity (Cholera outbreak response, measlses outbreak response) when the need arises.
- Participating in regional or district level campaigns, screening activiites and other programmes when there is any HR support request from MOH which validated by the project.
- Work closely with the community health workers to facilitate defaulter and absent tracing and other home to home activities.
- Communicate with the outreach nutrition supervisor, ITFC team and ATFC team to improve referral linkages and continuum of care.
- Support the lay counsellor educator and the commuity health workers during the facility level as well as home to home based health education activities.
- Checking vaccination eligibilty of the children and conducting appropriate vaccination in communicatoin with the clincal officer in the team.
- Performing vitamin A supplementation and deworming service for eligible children in communicatoin with the clincal officer in the team.
- Registering all necessary informations on treatment cards, register books and tally sheet templates.
- Dispensing prescribed medications and RUTF with appropriate instruction on how to use.
About You
Education: Specialty (nurse or anesthetist) BSc essential.
Mandatory Valid Medical license
Renewed and up-to-date professional license
Experience:
- Essential, 2 years of relevant working experience.
- Essential 1 years of previous experience in nursing team supervisor.
- Previous experience in MSF or other NGO’s is an asset.
