About TIMRAN

TIMRAN is a civil society organization established in March 2020 with the objective of enhancing women’s participation in politics and public decision-making processes. TIMRAN’s vision is to see an Ethiopia where women take their legitimate space in the public decision-making arena and the nation’s political affairs. Our mission is to work towards the enhancement of Ethiopian women’s active engagement in political and public leadership to ensure their constitutional right to equal participation in the nation’s political, social, and economic undertakings.

Position Summary

TIMRAN is seeking to hire program interns to support various projects and activities related to women’s political participation and the peace process in Ethiopia. The program interns will work closely with the program teams to contribute to the implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting women’s involvement in political, peace-building, and decision-making processes.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about gender equality, political participation, and peacebuilding to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of activities aimed at promoting women’s leadership and involvement in political and peace processes.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating events, workshops, and training related to women’s leadership in political and peace processes.
  • Assist in compiling reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external partner.
  • Assist in conducting research related to women’s political participation and public decision-making processes.
  • Provide administrative support to the program team as needed.
  • Support the organization’s advocacy efforts by contributing to social media campaigns, creating content that highlights women’s participation in peace and political processes, and promoting TIMRAN’s vision

About You

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • Organizational skills for coordinating and facilitating events, with attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Amharic and English; knowledge of other Ethiopian languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and basic social media management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in similar roles or internships is a plus but not required.
  • A strong interest in women’s rights, political participation, and peace process.
