Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia) is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working different development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund, CARE Ethiopia and UNICEF.
RTN-Ethiopia, recently going to secure grant from UNICEF to implement an “Integrated Nutrition & ECE” project with the objective of enhancing the development of early childhood aged children (0-7) by integrating nutrition and early childhood education (ECE) intervention in selected Woreda of Sidama Region (Aleta Chuko) & South Ethiopia Region (Duguna-Fango & Dassenech).
Therefore, we would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following post.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator expected to play a crucial role to manage, coordinate and oversee different projects under the two regions; He/she will often be responsible to lead projects and teams, monitor and ensure the right implementation of projects, communicate with local stakeholders, verify and/or approve program expenditures, prepare action plans and other communication instruments, facilitate enabling environment for the successful implementation of projects, maintain records pertaining to project activities, and reporting. The Project Coordinator will work in close consultation with the Executive Director and in collaboration with different teams and local stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and result of all projects.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Planning and coordination of a projects/programs managed under the Coordination office, including its human resources.. etc.
- Work with Woreda, zonal, Regional BoH, Education and other officials to ensure all aspects of programme understood and agreed to implement the programme
- Cascading trainings on Early Childhood Education, and Women Economic Empowerment
- Providing ongoing training for Health staffs with special emphasis to develop ownership of the programme by government staff and build their capacity to sustain the programme.
- Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agendas in connection to RTN’s programs/projects implemented under the Coordination office.
- Manage area level communication, visibility and public relation activities of the organization with diffident stakeholder.
- Supervise the activities of the School feeding programme/SFP/ to run smoothly and in line with the guideline.
- Follow-up and ensure the quality, Inclusivity and accessibility of ECE & ASR program in the project area.
- Manage area level staff work assignments, workloads and work schedules based on weekly plans and regular monitoring and discussion platforms.
- Assign tasks among the staff according to the variation in workload, holidays, unplanned absences or illness
- Facilitate and follow Monthly Nutritional Assessment, Vit.A and deworming campaign in the program/project area.
- Support growth and program development activities of the organization, including project designing and resource mobilization exercises.
- Prepare regular plans and reports on program/project performance and impact for internal and external communication, sharing, and learning purpose in consultation with Executive Director.
- Attend training and learning events in the project areas representing RTN and cascade new developments to the organization’s program team and its stakeholders.
- Update the Executive Director on the implementation of the ECE and Nutrition Program & other activities on weekly/monthly basis.
- Conduct field visits to monitor and support program/project implementation and identify and forward areas of improvement using back-to-office reports.
- Compile and share lessons, good practices, and case stories from project/program implementations.
- Ensure RTN Safeguarding Policy and Guidelines and adhered to in project implementation
- Carry out other tasks related in consultation with the Executive Director to enhance the quality of projects and organizational achievements
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One year Contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of fund and work performance.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Good communication skill in Amharic & English. Knowledge of the project implementation areas languages is needed
SALARY: As per the organization scale.
PLACE OF WORK: Dilla with frequent travel to the field.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:
- MSc/BSc in Nutrition, Nursing and other related fields with a minimum of 2 years MA and 4 years for BA years relevant work experience in similar program management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Qualification (Education, Experience, key qualities, skill and competence
- Have a demonstrated experience in nutrition programme, ECE and running other feeding programme
- Strong knowledge of Project Management, budget planning, monitoring and evaluation and report writing,
- Good knowledge, understanding and implementation of integrated Rural Development and Women Empowerment Programme activities,
- Ability to plan and organize work to meet individual, team and programme objective,
- Training and facilitation skill,
- Ability to effectively liaise with government, donors, NGOs, community leaders and other stakeholders,
- Fosters working in teams & teamwork spirit, coach and lead staff.
- Very good knowledge and practice of computer application,
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Willing to travel to remote areas in the field, ability to work flexibly including weekends and willingness to travel and work in rural locations and live in basic conditions.
- Understanding of the nature of the program and willing to travel and live in field site, with frequent transfer from site to site.
- Flexible and creative approach; keen to take initiative where appropriate.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Concept paper development, operational planning, budget planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, report writing;
- Proficiency in standard office software packages;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

- Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels;
