About the Job

The Opportunity 

The Project Officer for Emergency Response provides critical support in managing and overseeing all aspects of the project management cycle, with particular focus on the sectors of Education in Emergencies, Child Protection, WASH, nutrition and food security within emergency response projects and broader humanitarian programs. This role includes coordinating, managing, documenting, and facilitating communication to ensure timely and effective emergency responses. The Project Officer also collaborates with the field team to track project progress and document success stories and best practices. The Project Officer works closely with the Consortium Manager, MERL Specialist, Grant Finance Coordinator, Field team, other internal departments, partners, and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance and the achievement of program objectives.

 

 

 

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted

About You

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in project management or administrative, education, disaster risk management and related field is typically required. Additional certifications training in education, child protection, WASH, Nutrition and food security can be advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in humanitarian and development sector preferably in similar organizations working in protracted and complex humanitarian setups.
  • Experience in project management assistance, emergency response, related field coordination, financial, logistics and administration is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of education, child protection, WASH, nutrition, and food security principles in humanitarian settings, including knowledge of sectoral practices, guidelines, and relevant policies and regulations.
  • Proficiency in conducting sectoral assessments, data collection, and analysis. Familiarity with CPiMS, EIMS and other sectoral information systems, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and reporting tools. Knowledge of sectoral assessment and beneficiary selection/screening tools is an asset.
