PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges. Since 2007, PATH has been working to improve health systems and services to create healthier futures for Ethiopians. PATH in Ethiopia is currently implementing various high-impact, evidence-based, sustainable programs with the aim of saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable and underserved women and children in the country in collaboration with Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureau, community groups, and other partners.
PATH seeks to hire a qualitative research lead consultant for the USAID-funded PMI S4ME to support the qualitative evaluation of the Targeted Drug Administration (TDA) study in Metema district, Ethiopia. The main objective is to evaluate the acceptability of TDA amongst farmworkers, farm-site owners, and local health authorities. The intended assessment includes qualitative methods involving key informant interviews (KII) and focus group discussions (FGD).
About You
Specific responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the design of data collection tools by reviewing and providing feedback on tools, including a FGD guide and KII guide.
- Oversee logistics and planning surrounding data collection with support from PATH/MACEPA.
- Lead the implementation of data collection activities, including the conduct of FGDs and KIIs.
- Manage the work of a research assistant/note-taker to ensure those insights generated through data collection are captured in sufficient detail.
- Ensure the quality of written transcripts.
- Engage with PATH staff in the analysis of findings and identification of key themes.
- Prepare and submit FGDs and KIIs final report to PATH assigned personnel.
Required skills and experience:
- Minimum of master’s degree in public health or related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in public health research activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing qualitative research activities, specifically facilitating FGDs and KIIs.
- Experience conducting process evaluation is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Amharic is required.
- Familiarity with qualitative research software is a plus.
