The company is looking for a dynamic and experienced Quality and SHE Head to lead and manage the Mintu Plast Plastic Raw Material Production PLC’s Quality and SHE team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) protocols. This role ensures that all Mintu Plast products meet high-precision standards while maintaining a zero-harm working environment and total compliance with local regulatory requirements.
Experience & Qualifications:
First Degree or Master’s Degree in Applied Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Industrial Chemistry or related filed of studies with at least 5 years of quality control experience, of which 3 years in Supervisory or Managerial capacity in the manufacturing industry (experience in plastic/PET extrusion plants is highly preferred).
Knowing the Oromifa Language will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC)
- Establish, implement, and continuously improve quality standards for PET preforms, caps, and shrink wrap products.
- Ensure effective testing and inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods.
- Lead investigations into product defects, deviations, and customer complaints; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure no non-conforming product is released to customers.
- Implement and maintain an integrated management system covering Quality, Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental requirements.
Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Leadership
- Develop and enforce SHE policies and procedures to promote a Zero Harm culture across manufacturing operations.
- Conduct regular workplace risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations governing waste management, emissions, and resource use.
- Organize and oversee safety training programs, fire drills, emergency preparedness, and first-aid certification.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure continuous readiness for audits conducted by regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and customers.
- Prepare and present reports on quality performance, safety incidents (LTIs), and compliance metrics to senior management.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance Right First Time (RFT) performance.
- Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation standards are maintained across all production areas.
Customer Focus & Stakeholder Management
- Understand customer quality and compliance requirements and ensure alignment with internal processes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to strengthen trust and service delivery.
- Support customer audits and technical discussions related to quality and SHE performance.
Training & Culture Development
- Design and facilitate specialized training programs.
- Lead and document regular refreshment training for the plant’s Firefighting and First Aider Team to ensure 24/7 emergency readiness.
- Conduct mandatory SHE inductions for all new hires and third-party contractors entering the plant.
People Management & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Quality and SHE teams to enhance technical competence and professional growth.
- Implement performance management processes, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations.
- Promote a culture where quality, safety, and compliance are shared responsibilities across the organization.
