DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs; Child Well-being and Education Development Program, Gender and Life Skill Development, Employable Skills Development Program, Advocacy, and Humanitarian Emergency Program. DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following position: Regional Capacity Building Advisor 

Duty station –Development Expertise Center; Semera Area office

Summary     

The Capacity Building Advisor will support a diverse range of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and partners and take the lead in their organizational development and systems-strengthening activities, design and implement tailored capacity-building activities, participate in monitoring each partner to ensure timely implementation of activities, and that quality requirements and standards are met.

Roles and responsibilities 

  • Participate in building capacity, coaching, and monitoring of target CSOs.
  • Create a good and collaborative work atmosphere with the Program Coordinator and grass root level community and target CSOs.
  • Communicate and cooperate with relevant stakeholders to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Closely work with identified CSOs, local authorities, relevant government stakeholders and project team.
  • Collect, document and manage data of all target CSOs in the target region
  • Prepare quarter, biannual and annual work plans and reports and submit to the project coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnership with target CSOs and like-minded organizations.
  • Participate in project proposal development process including new program/project development, possible revision and amendment as necessary.
  • Document best practices of the project activities in collaboration with DEC & partner org PMEL unit and share with relevant bodies
  • Perform these and other tasks as required by project Coordinator, Program Coordinator or SMT of DEC

About You

Additional Skill

  • Fluency in English and Amharic; proficiency of local language is advantageous
  • Cooperative, team player, gender sensitive and excellent in interpersonal relationships.
  • Experience working with government stakeholders and CSOs, familiar to relevant government regulations and different formats
  • Experience in capacity building, training, and project management
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups at all levels
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
  • Have a strong commitment and openness to learn and share

Academic Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or any other Social Science field.
