Job Summary:

The Field Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of CRS staff, facilities, and assets. The Field Security officer coordinates with the Country Program’s Security Manager to provide technical leadership and oversight on all matters related to the health, security and safety of CRS personnel and assets.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain standard operational procedures (SOPs) and Contingency Plans for security operations within the Amhara Region.  Conduct on a regular basis, Security Risks assessments and assist the Security manager in conducting trainings on SOPs, contingency plans, Security management, Incident reporting, Prevention and Response Mechanisms, and risk/threats analysis.
  • Provide security briefings for all visitors upon arrival in the Region.
  • Participate in recruitment, management and evaluation of security service providers and personnel.
  • Gather security information and regularly provide updates to the Security Manager and and PDP manager.
  • Ensure that SAT phones are always functional and used for the intended purpose only.
  • Serve as focal point with drivers during movement across the region.
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison with local police, security forces, local partners and other relevant Regional and Woreda organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with Fire Safety standards and preparedness, including availability, placement and adequacy of relevant equipment and signage in all warehouses within the Region
  • Regularly conduct compliance with safety and security assessments across all warehouses in the region

 

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience in safety and security management, community engagement
  • Completed formal security management training
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training
  • Knowledge of the geography and culture of the Amhara Region
  • Previous experience in security management with NGOs
  • Proficient in MS Office package (Excel and Word) and mapping software.

Certifications

  • Certification in Security Management

Required Languages – Fluency in English and Amharic is required. The skill of the Afan Oromo Language is highly desirable.
