KAKI PLC is an official dealer and assembler of ISUZU Vehicles in Ethiopia. It is also engaged in different business lines including import, export, metal fabrication, after sales services, and cargo freight transport operations. The company wishes to employ a qualified professional for the Senior Design Engineer position.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible individually and as a team for the design and engineering practices, and contribute to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining customer requirements, safety and environmental standards.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for staff use and abide by the engineering staff.
• Assist in developing alternative methods of making manufacturing practices, which are more efficient and cost effective; look at space constraints, material requirements and current needs in order to improve productivity.
• Provide product drawings and technical documentation for the Vehicle Assembly and Metal Fabrication functions as appropriate.
• Check to confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
• Review quality standards of each product to make sure there are no problems; test all materials extensively to analyze how each item meets the standard.
• Conduct various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new product designs and improved processes.
• Involve in the process of reducing or eliminating equipment downtime or scrap, by conducting good analytical methodologies.
• Analyze the current method of production by watching operations, conducting comprehensive research, interviewing suppliers and using information about the product and its parts.
• Summarize all data, documentation and information related to the production system in a detailed report for internal use purpose.
• Maintain an accurate database of all production details and data.
• Develop professional expertise and proficiencies by periodically participating in conferences and other developmental opportunities.
• Recommend research based modern technologies and production processes that will enable the Manufacturing plant to attain competitive edge over its competitors.
• Provide technical presentations and demonstrate how a design change or custom- made product meets a customer need.
• Provide support in the process of preparing technical bid and its submission as appropriate.
• Assist in producing a tailored documentation in response to request for pre- qualifications, proposals, quotations and tenders, using approved processes and by collaborating with the biding team.
• Prepare performance report for submission to the Manager, Engineering.

Qualification                    :  BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Work Experience            :  6 years in relevant role

Required Competence    :

• Knowledge and appreciation of Lean manufacturing concepts
• Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
• Interpersonal and teamwork skill
• Knowledge of computer design and engineering software
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
• Ability to provide feedback both orally and in writing
