Job Description
Sentinel Steel PLC was established in December 2013 with the purpose of setting up a hot rolling steel manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. It’s manufacturing facility is located in Bishoftu, Oromia State, Ethiopia. The company’s rebar manufacturing facility is intended to serve the burgeoning demand for quality steel in the local construction sector having a steel plant with an initial installed hot rolling capacity of 120,000 – 150,000 metric tons per annum (tpa).
Currently, the manufacturing facility is looking for qualified and ambitious Senior Mechanic for its Manufacturing plant as per the following description:
Summary of the Job
- Directs and coordinates all electrical/electronic maintenance activities, maintains very complex electrical/electronic parts and equipment’s, assists and coaches’ subordinates, prepares performance report about the electrical/electronic maintenance activities.
Detail duties and responsibilities
- Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the activities of electrical/electronic maintenance unit.
- Plans and participates in the maintenance/overhaul of all electrical and electronics/machinery in the factory, ensures the timely execution of the program.
- Ensures the distribution of electrical power, installation, modification, repair/maintenance of electrical power system in the whole compound.
- Undertakes the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic machinery and equipment that requires a very high degree of accuracy and precision.
- Visits all electrical installations in his area of responsibility and checks the working condition of all electrical/electronic system.
- Reports on any irregularities to superior in his area of responsibility and checks the working condition of all electrical/ electronic system.
- Consults/discusses electrical/electronic problems with other work units and provides technical assistance and advice as required.
- Cuts off power supply before starting any repair/maintenance work by informing superior as well as all those likely to affected.
- Assists the head of technical division in reviewing standards of electrical and electronics systems.
- Carries out research on electrical/electronic engineering problems and in consultation with the head of technical division suggests improvements to reduce frequency of failures and enhance better performance.
- Ensures that the required type and amount of spare parts are available for maintenance installation and modification of electrical/electronic instruments.
- Keeps all records, files manuals, plans and designs in his area of responsibility.
- Reconditions electricity supply lines and ensures proper insulation of all electrical transmission wires.
- Assists and coaches’ subordinates
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports and submit to superior
- Performs any other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
Education and Major requirements
- BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience or Diploma in electrical engineering or Similar field of study from a recognized university/college and 6 years related work experience.
Other requirements
- Extensive knowledge of electrical/electronic maintenance principles and procedures.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationship with subordinates.
- Basic knowledge of operations and production management.
- Ability to lead small teams effectively.
Language Skill
- English and Amharic and or Afan Oromo,
