Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) is a branch of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). HEHE is currently operating under Africa Habitat for Humanity International. Since it started operation in 1993, Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia has supported thousands of families and individuals.  Initially focused on mortgage houses for families affected by poverty and other vulnerabilities, the organization has expanded its efforts to incorporate vulnerable group housing, urban slum upgrading, urban resilience building, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Disaster Risk Reduction Response (DR3)-WASH Resilience Building.

JOB SUMMARY

To support all aspects of the fundraising including prospecting and acquiring potential donors and philanthropies locally as well as internationally through supporting fundraiser GFOI, Resource Development (RD) and GFN countries that includes multiple income streams – such as foundations, governments, corporate, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), etc. and facilitate existing relationships. The position holder will work closely with Partnership Development and Resource Mobilization Manager to draw effective strategies for fund raising with existing as well as newly established partnership structure. The position holder will be responsible for ensuring that HFHE identify, engage, and influence key shelter and WASH stakeholders in Ethiopia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the development and management of the implementation of an overall fundraising strategy plan.
  • Identify and track funding prospects as they arise and maintain the appropriate tracking tools in collaboration with GFOI and Resource Development
  • Assist the PDRM Manager in preparing and monitoring grant applications, correspondence, and progress of applications and report updates.
  • Play a key role in the development and maintenance of    HFHE’s database of potential funders, consultants’ roaster, and partners for funding
  • Report the progress of core business in terms of funding and  partnership
  • Support new and current partnership engagements including identifying and building relationships with prospective collaborative partners.
  • Enhance positive and constructive relationships with potential funding and internal and external stakeholders,
  • Contribute to the efforts in identifying new donors by exploring new funding opportunities from institutional donors.
  • Conduct donor visits and develop donor mapping and funding action plans.
  • Support the HFHE’s engagement in active frameworks and consortia, including maintaining relationships with other framework/consortia participants and coordinating meetings where required.
  • Support the development of concept notes and proposals as appropriate in liaison with Finance, MEAL, and Program teams by managing the bid process, contributing to technical proposal development, and budgeting, and developing strategies for bids.
  •  Maintain upto date HFHE Capacity Statement document and widely shared when a potential opportunity exists.
  • Develop and maintain key resources to support programs bids including standing documents, databases      of activity costs and day rates, database of financial and other relevant policies.
  • Support the monitoring of new funding options and work as focal coordinator for new project applications in cooperation with HFHE and GFOI and Resource Development.
  • Transfer the administrative procedures to the relevant staff once the project is up and running, provide on-going advice and supervision.
  • Ensure that the Go/No Go has been properly completed from the onset of per-positioning.
  • Develop annual fund-raising plans and implement them.
  • Provides support to the Partnership Development and Resource Mobilization Manager in the process of forming consortia and establishment of strategic partnership.
  • Facilitate the development of partnerships with other NGOs whose work is relevant to HFHE’s Core Programs for resource leveraging.
  • Support the development of the partnership and  fundraising strategy, as well as the annual plan.
  • Facilitate  fundraising campaigns and event through local campaigns.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and strengthening relations with key funding partners, members, and other external stakeholders
  • Help in the developing and managing cultivation activities and high- level events.
  • Provide support to the program team and PDRM department, including but not limited to maintaining a donor database, files, and documentation, and assist in building and maintaining relationships with existing donors.
  • Writing and producing compelling major proposals and campaign reports

Duration of the contract:  2 years with possibility of extension.

About You

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, project management, business development, international relation and development, economics, business administration.
  • At least five years of proven track records of fundraising and partnership experience in a non-profit organization or international organizations. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Skills: 

  • Proven experience in external organizational representation. Good research and analytical skills; strong verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English both in writing and in speech.
  • Sense for cultural diversity.
