Purpose of the Job

The purpose of the job is to ensure that glass bottles meet strict quality standards by conducting real-time inspections during production shifts. This role is essential in identifying defects, reporting non-conforming products, and collaborating with production teams to maintain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Major duties and Responsibilities

· Conducts visual and dimensional inspections on glass bottles to detect defects such as cracks, bubbles, misalignment, thickness variations, and contamination.

· Identifies and remove defective bottles from the production line, preventing defective goods from progressing to packaging or shipment.

· Uses measuring tools (callipers, gauges, micrometres) to verify conformity with product specifications.

· Monitors and ensure correct functioning of automatic inspection equipment, making necessary adjustments or reporting malfunctions.

· Maintains detailed inspection logs, recording defects, frequency, and potential causes to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.

· Reports deviations from quality standards to supervisors and machine operators promptly for corrective action.

· Works closely with the production and maintenance teams to investigate and resolve recurring defects related to equipment or operational inconsistencies.

· Provides feedback on machine performance when defects appear to be related to mechanical wear or calibration issues.

· Maintains a clean and organized inspection area, ensuring hazardous materials, glass fragments, and defective products are properly handled and disposed of.

· Follows industry quality assurance procedures, adhering to factory protocols for defect categorization and reporting.

· Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

About You

Required Knowledge and skills (Competence)

Education:

  • BSc Degree or TVET Level in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications/training in Quality Inspection Procedures for Manufacturing & Glass Production, Defect Recognition and Classification for Glass Bottles and Safety Training and Proper PPE Usage in Manufacturing Environments.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Control in a Manufacturing or Glass Production Environment, Using Inspection Tools & Visual Assessment for Industrial Products and Handling Precision Measurement Instruments for Dimensional Analysis.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent visual acuity to detect product defects.
  • Basic data recording and report writing skills for documenting inspection results.
  • Knowledge of product quality standards for glass bottle manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as callipers, micrometres, and gauges.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting findings and coordinating with production teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring inspections do not delay production flow.
